Roger Ebert was and always will be the world’s foremost film critic. He’s an inspiration to millions of young aspiring critics and reviewers, and that includes myself. Not that I’ll ever come close to garnering even a fraction of his credibility or talent, but still, you know what I mean. Life Itself is a beautiful and brutally honest look into Roger Ebert’s life that chronicles his rise to stardom, tense relationship with Gene Siskel, as well as his unfortunate and deadly run with cancer. Ebert remained an inspiration throughout his struggles, and never stopped reviewing movies, even after having lost his ability to speak. Directed by Steve James, Life Itself is a must-watch for any fan of Roger Ebert, or for that matter, cinema.

Numerical Score: 9/10
