The Lebanese National Rugby Team was defeated on Sunday by the Fiji Bati in a test match at Remondis Stadium in Sydney, Australia.

Fiji won over Lebanon with 40-28 score.

The teams were playing for the inaugural of the Hayne-Mannah cup, which was named in honor of the Bati's departing star Jarryd Hayne and the Cedars' Tim Mannah.

The Lebanese team kicked off the match well but failed to maintain the game's posture, allowing the Fijians to take advantage.

Eddy Elzbaidieh was able to draw the match to 22-all but Fiji finishes stronger as fatigue sets in for the Lebanese team.

Chris Saab ended the game with a score in the corner, making the final result 40-28.

Lebanon has narrowly missed out on qualification for the 2013 World Cup when they drew against Italy, in 2012

Fiji's last game was the 32 - 16 defeat to Samoa in May which saw them miss out on a place in the Four Nations this year.

Abbas Miskie and Ray Moujalli (Lebanon) along with James Storer and Wes Naiqama were seen as the best players for their teams respectively.

The match marked the start of a four-year journey for newly appointed Lebanese coach Darren Maroun, who will personally lead the Cedars while overseeing an under-16s side coached by Charbel Khoury and Tarek Houcher’s under-20s.

Both teams are expected to receive world rankings points.
