Police said Thursday they have arrested one of the most wanted robbery suspects in the eastern Bekaa Valley after he tried to escape from a patrol in the town of Brital.

The Internal Security Forces said in a communique that 29-year-old D.Aa. was apprehended on Wednesday.

The suspect was in a stolen Mercedes and had in his possession a hand grenade and half a gram of cocaine at the time of his arrest, the ISF said.

The man admitted to carrying out 18 robberies and car thefts along with several of his accomplices, it said.

Twelve search and investigation warrants have been issued against him for robbery, theft, the formation of a gang, using a weapon and the possession of drugs.

Efforts are underway to arrest the rest of the gang's members, police added.

God bless the Lebanese Army, sad to say this, but years of neglect have led to this. Hope is that if the LAF continues to do this kind of sterling job, very soon Lebanon will be rid of the grit that have accumulated over the years, and yes, it can be done, all that's need is a will of steel. An advancing army does not pause till the battle is won, till the war is done.
