Spurs Beat Pacers 106-100 without Popovich

Manu Ginobili scored 28 points as the San Antonio Spurs won without coach Gregg Popovich, rallying for a 106-100 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.

Popovich missed the game after undergoing what the team is calling a minor medical procedure. Assistant Ettore Messina took over, becoming the first European-born coach to run an NBA team in the regular season.

Ginobili resembled the high-flying, energetic star that played for Bologna in 2001 under Messina before joining the Spurs, helping San Antonio's Big Three direct the team to victory without their fiery coach.

Tony Parker scored 21 points for San Antonio (10-4), and Kawhi Leonard had 21 points and 13 rebounds.

LeBron James scored 29 points in Cleveland and Kevin Love added 21 as the Cavaliers exacted a little revenge over the Washington Wizards with a 113-87 win.

Five days after they were embarrassed in a 91-78 loss to Washington, the Cavs controlled this one from the start and got back to .500.

James led the way, also collecting 10 rebounds and eight assists in 36 minutes. The four-time MVP, who called his team "fragile" during a recent four-game losing streak, was energized from the start as he powered to the basket and imposed his will on the Wizards.

Brooklyn's Alan Anderson scored 10 of his 12 points in the fourth quarter as the Nets beat the 76ers 99-91 to extend Philadelphia's season-opening losing streak to 15 games — matching a club record.

Philadelphia rallied from a 20-point deficit in the first half to the lead early in the fourth quarter, but Anderson and Mirza Teletovic led the way for Brooklyn in the final period. Teletovic had six of his nine points in the fourth.

Joe Johnson had 21 points and Brook Lopez scored 19 for Brooklyn (6-8), which won for just the second time in eight games.

At Orlando, Stephen Curry had 28 points, including six 3-pointers as the Golden State Warriors rolled to its seventh consecutive win, 111-96 over the Magic.

Curry rested in the fourth quarter of Golden State's third consecutive win over the Magic. The Warriors led by as many as 27 in the second half.

The Dallas Mavericks beat the New York Knicks 109-102 in overtime after Tyson Chandler set season highs with 17 points and 25 rebounds against his former team, while Wesley Matthews scored a season-high 28 points as the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Charlotte Hornets 105-97 for their ninth consecutive victory.

DeMar DeRozan scored 27 points and Lou Williams added 22 as the Toronto Raptors earned their sixth consecutive victory by beating the Atlanta hawks 126-115, and Marc Gasol had 19 points and 11 rebounds in the Memphis Grizzlies' 99-93 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

In other games, James Harden scored 26 points to lead the Houston Rockets past the Sacramento Kings 102-89, the Oklahoma City Thunder downed the Utah Jazz 97-82, the Phoenix Suns beat the Denver Nuggets 120-112, the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 103-86 and the Los Angeles Clippers were 104-98 winners over the Detroit Pistons.
