Biden to Visit Brazil for Rousseff Inauguration

Vice President Joe Biden will lead a U.S. delegation to Brazil for the inauguration of President Dilma Rousseff on January 1, the White House said Friday.

Rousseff, who was re-elected for a second term in October, met Biden earlier this year when he visited for the World Cup.

The White House statement said additional details about the vice president's trip would be forthcoming.

The administration of U.S. President Barack Obama is striving to get relations with Brasilia back on track after revelations last year that the U.S. spied on Rousseff's communications, among the National Security Agency (NSA) leaks by former intelligence analyst Edward Snowden.
