Hassan Khalil to Unveil Customs 'Scandals' Soon, Orders Prosecution of Land Registry Secretary
إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربيةFinance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil made a sudden inspection visit Tuesday to the Customs department at the Beirut Port, unveiling “scandals” which he said would disclose in the near future.
“You will hear about scandals and major accountability measures at the Customs department,” Khalil told al-Jadeed TV after touring the port.
Separately, the ministry issued a statement announcing “the appointment of 73 new employees at some departments of the Directorate of Real Estate Affairs.”
The ministry also asked the prosecutor of the North to file a lawsuit against a land registry secretary operating in northern Lebanon as it referred to the judiciary four new complaints related to the issue of the commons of some towns and regions.
Hassan Khalil has recently launched an anti-corruption campaign at the finance ministry, apparently emulating the campaign kicked off by Wael Abou Faour at the health ministry.
On December 1 he referred 55 real estate directorate employees to investigation as he lamented what he described as a “dire situation” at the land surveying department.
“The real danger lies in the way state properties and commons are being handled,” the minister said, revealing that he intends to form a complaints committee.

I nominate Mr. Berri, Mr. Mowaten and Mr. Flamethrower aided by their secretary Miss Southern to head a task team to root out corruption.
Ali Hassan Khalil was the previous health minister and did nothing then. comes abou faour.
he is exposed of doing nothing and now he is just playing around: he hired 73 new employees (all shias probably) to take over the bakhshich for him and berry.
Agreed FT, including those who clear goods without inspection. With Hezbollah, no matter what the container, it costs $2000 door to door and no one touches it either. Go to a non-Hezbollah operative or customs clearers and see the difference. The port is now under heavy Hezbollah control, if this is just a make up operation, then we shall see.
of course it is a show. The corrupt are known to belong to HA and Amal. My uncle imports containers from China on average 6 per year. He pays an AMAL "transitour" a lot of money to get his containers cleared although he has nothing illegal. It is mainly toys and leather goods. If he does not do that it will take forever to clear them from the corrupt customs.
it sure looks like _mowaten_ is in a race against time to meet his 2014 propaganda quota in order to earn his yearly bonus. His posting has increased exponentially while his relevance has decreased exponentially too. Sad when you have to make a buck being a paid troll
