'Several Troops' Killed in Army's Ongoing Clashes with Terrorists in Tallat al-Hamra

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

The army announced on Friday that “several of its troops” were killed and others wounded in ongoing clashes with terrorists in the Tallat al-Hamra region on the outskirts of Ras Baalbek in the eastern Bekaa.

On Friday morning, said the communique, terrorist groups attacked an army surveillance post in Tallat al-Hamra near the Lebanese-Syrian border.

Fierce clashes then erupted between the two sides and the army managed at noon to seize control of the area and repel the gunmen.

A number of gunmen were killed and wounded in the fighting.

The army is still bolstering its measures and positions in Tallat al-Hamra as it continues to target gunmen through heavy weapons.

It is also sweeping the area in search of the gunmen.

The military added that it will reveal the names of its victims in a later statement.

Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) had reported that three soldiers were killed and four others were missing in Friday's clashes.

MTV reported that more than 10 gunmen were killed and 20 others were wounded in the unrest and the bodies are still scattered on the field.

Tallat al-Hamra is a strategic point that oversees the outskirts of Arsal.

The army statement added that on Wednesday night the military fell victim to an ambush by armed groups that were heading towards a military post in Wadi Hmeid in the northeastern border region of Arsal.

Four gunmen were killed in the ensuing clashes.

The army also thwarted an attempt to transport a booby-trapped vehicle into Lebanon on Thursday. The vehicle was discovered at the entrance of Arsal and the explosive was defused.

Members of the al-Qaida-linked Nusra Front and the Islamic State group have launched several such attacks in recent months.

Reports have raised fears lately that Syrian armed gunmen were planning to open a front in Lebanon by invading Arsal and advancing into al-Qaa, Ras Baalbek and other nearby villages.

We all support our army in the defense of the nation. I have never seen one m14 supporter who stands with any force except the legitimate institutions of the nation. Now let us consider the following scenario: if the army moved to stop the Hizb from storming Beirut or mount lebanon, what do people think the position of Mystic and other slavish supporters of the Hizb? If the army moved to stop the Hizb from going into Syria, what do you think their position will be? In any fight between the army and the Hizb, where do you think they would stand?

MehI remember when I was in Lebanon and it was Ramadan I was in place in dahieh, at a famous fast food place, I believe it was called abu ali falafel, but not sure, anyways. I was eating that tutifruity and falafel sandwich and people were looking at me with anger, until one guy came, told me something in Farsi Arabic "Allah Akbar, Labayka Ya Nassrallah or something Labayka Ya Hussein", and tried to take away my cup of fruits and sandwich. Until a police or army some security guy, told the fanatic to back off.

"as israel never said Lebanon was the enemy"
dude, that's as plain as it gets, you're a zionist stooge. 100% confirmed and that's the textbook definition of TRAITOR (just in case you dont know: we're at war with israel, "we" as in "lebanon", and at war since decades before the existence of hezbollah. and hezbollah WON that war for lebanon against israel and kicked it out. not thanks to you or anybody of your sort.)

Thumb _mowaten_ 23 January 2015, 14:32

also daring to say ISIS is not lebanon's enemy, when they've bombed lebanese civilians, beheaded lebanese soldiers and are currently holding dozens hostage. if these arent your enemies than you are my enemy too. tfeh 3aleik, and dont ever again pretend you're my countryman, you're a traitor who should be hanged

Missing peace 23 January 2015, 14:40

so i need no advice from an iranian traitor believing more in tehran than in beirut!!

so get lost will you?

Thumb _mowaten_ 23 January 2015, 14:56

anonyme dont pretend you know the first thing about law, or the first thing about anything for that matter. treason involves dealing with the ENEMY and lebanon is officially at war with israel, not iran. actually iran helped lebanon fight their enemies and liberate its land, that makes iran and ALLY. now buzz off and take your friend peasse with you, i've spent all the time i'll willing to spend on traitors today.

"If KSA wanted to do an attempt - it would have pledged it's $4 Bio to Mustakbal "
actually they pledged and delievered over 100Bn$ to takfiri extremist groups. covering salaries, training, equipment, arms, ammo and high tech weapon systems like TOWs and MANPADS (the kind of weapons that israel forbade france and saudi from giving us). amusingly, in that case everything was very swiftly delivered and they didnt require endless "finishing touches"

they visibly reactivated project MKUltra in guantanamo, abu ghraib, bagram and many other torture camps (MKUltra used numerous methodologies to manipulate people's mental states and alter brain functions, including the surreptitious administration of drugs (especially LSD) and other chemicals, hypnosis, sensory deprivation, isolation, verbal and sexual abuse, as well as various forms of torture http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_MKUltra)

Mowaten, what is the definition of a traitor? In Lebanon's case masalan the SLA was comprised of 80 Shiites, ask Nabih Berri who had the guts to calm down the streets after Israel withdrew in May 2000. Then to the Syrians: They occupied ruthlessly Lebanon, kidnapped, killed maimed uncountable numbers of Lebanese, shelled Lebanon for 3 decades, stole our resources and Hezbollah by being the ally of Syria makes of itself the traitor by excellence. Once a traitor with the SLA, the a second time a traotir with the Syrians, and 3 times a traitor by fighting inside Syria. If I was you dear friend I would think thrice before labeling innocent people of something that's more like your domain.

Flamey did you take your pills today? It seems like you're vegetated. Did you really suggest that Iran didn't create Hezbollah?? Lmao you're funny. Amal was created by Lebanese. Hezbollah was created through Iranian funds to extend the Islamic Revolution's influence to Lebanon. Iran picked radicalised Shia - like Nasrallah who studied in Najaf - to lead the Islamic resistance against Israel. Don't forget Hezbollah was created in 1982 in direct response to the Israeli invasion.

Thumb Mrowwe 23 January 2015, 21:10

Amal was created by iran as well. Mousa alsadr, an iranian citizen sent to lebanon to start the project that would become hezbollah. Iran started it with amal and then made hezbollah from the religious wing of amal.

Thumb nickjames 23 January 2015, 21:26

Moussa al-Sadr's mother was Iranian, his father was Lebanese. And no, he was not sent to start a project that had anything to do with Hezbollah. In fact, al-Sadr was a moderate. While he wanted Maronites to relinquish some of their power, he promoted unity. He also fought for improved social and economic conditions for Shia, he built schools and clinics.

Thumb -phoenix1 23 January 2015, 19:42

Every time a Lebanese soldier is killed, my day becomes somber immeasurably. As a result, the pain that grips my hearts is truly immense. I cannot accept anymore that anyone of my army falls because of bad political decisions, or because of filthy actions undertaken by some political groups in Lebanon. Being previously a fighter member of the Lebanese Forces, I know for sure where the weak points are in our borders, and I also know what we must do to avoid being taken by surprise like we do often these days. I also know that an army needs at times to hit very hard and without mercy if it wants to retain the edge and advantage of reputation. Right now it is totally unacceptable to see more deaths within the ranks of our army, as of now only a solid hand of steel will work. Leniency is a thing of the past. This time let the LAF hit hard and ruthlessly.

Thumb nickjames 23 January 2015, 23:18

Thumb -phoenix1 23 January 2015, 19:47

And Arsal, ah, that dirty gaping wound that should have never have been left like this. This place should have been taken off the map, simple, empty it of its citizens, break it house by house and anyone standing on the way of the army be eliminated. The army must at all cost avoid hesitation, plus political interference, any politician who tries to impose his ideas on the army must be arrested and jailed. I have said it before, an advancing army does not negotiate, it does not pause, it imposes its will. This is what should have been done since day one. Today our army is again paying a high price for mistakes of past and present, enough is now more than enough.

Thumb nickjames 23 January 2015, 22:01

The LAF is a body without a head, it has no leadership. The LAF's hands have been tied whether by Lebanese politicians or external influence. The solution is not rallying behind the LAF (in its current state) because the LAF is subservient to Hezbollah. The solution is first disarming Hezbollah, then restructuring the LAF and arming it with sufficient weapons. Only then will the LAF be able to combat the takfiris, and even declare martial law over the Palestinian camps.

Default-user-icon Khanon (Guest) 23 January 2015, 21:08
