Clashes erupted Tuesday evening between the Syrian army, backed by Hizbullah, and Syrian gunmen opposite the outskirts of the Bekaa border town of Nahle.

Sky News Arabia reported that the clashes were taking place in Nahle's peripheries as OTV confirmed that “Hizbullah fighters are involved in the clashes.”

The state-run National News Agency also reported that “fierce clashes are underway in the al-Khashaa area in the Eastern Mountain Range opposite Nahle's outskirts.”

Eight Lebanese army troops were killed Friday and Saturday in fierce clashes with jihadist militants in the outskirts of the Bekaa border town of Ras Baalbek.

Dozens of gunmen were killed and wounded in the fighting.

The army has since reinforced its positions and measures in the area.

On October 5, extremist militants attacked Hizbullah's Ain Saa post and managed to seize it briefly before the assault was repelled by the Lebanese group.

The Syria-based militant groups are comprised of elements from the extremist al-Nusra Front and Islamic State groups and the rebel Free Syrian Army.
