Al-Qobbeh prison in Tripoli was on Thursday the scene of a new bizarre attempt to smuggle narcotics to one of the inmates.

Prison guards seized “50 narcotic pills hidden in a lemon,” the Internal Security Forces said in a statement.

The rigged fruit was brought along with some items to one of the prisoners.

The same prison had witnessed several unusual smuggling attempts in the past.

The culprits have so far used yogurt, a T-shirt, shoes and a mop handle in their bids to bring narcotics into al-Qobbeh prison.

The ISF stressed in its statement that “prison guards will continue exerting strenuous efforts to bust and arrest individuals trying to smuggle in drugs or prohibited items.”

Other prisons in Lebanon have also witnessed creative attempts involving the use of potatoes, toothpaste, meat pastries, meat sandwiches, apricots and even pistachios.

Maybe the time has now come where the good guys are better than the bad guys in being smart. He who is told that a thief will visit his home at night does not sleep.
