Marseille's French title hopes are all but over after losing 1-0 at Nantes on Friday, which also dents its chances of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

Winger Serge Gakpe scored in the 20th minute following some sloppy defending.

Goalkeeper Steve Mandanda passed to right back Rod Fanni, who tried to pass back only for Gakpe to intercept.

Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac headed over in the second half.

Marseille's third straight defeat leaves it in fourth place, seven points behind league leader Lyon, which has played a game less, and five behind Paris Saint-Germain, which has played two less.

Third-place Monaco is one point ahead of Marseille with a game in hand. The top two qualify automatically for the Champions League, while the third-place team goes through qualifying.
