Report: First Shipment of French Arms Included Undeclared Quantities

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

The first shipment of French weapons to the Lebanese army under a Saudi-financed deal included double the amount that was revealed to the public, An Nahar newspaper reported on Friday.

Ministerial sources told the daily that the real number of Milan rockets was double the amount revealed, in addition to advanced weapons that were not announced for military purposes.

The first batch also included military armored vehicles, the sources said.

They considered that the aid to the Lebanese army enables it to engage in battles to preserve stability in the country and along its eastern border, when necessary.

On Monday, Lebanon received the first shipment of $3 billion worth of French arms under a Saudi-financed deal to boost the country's defensive capabilities to combat terror threats, along its northeastern border in particular.

Lebanon's allies are seeking to bolster the country's defenses against the Islamic State group and other jihadists pressing along its Syrian border.

In August, the kingdom also offered another $1 billion in funds to allow the army to purchase supplies immediately.

The Lebanese army is generally seen as a unifying force in Lebanon, and draws its ranks from all of the country's sects.

awesome, there's at least 9 boxes in the pic, maybe even 10! looks like we made one hell of a deal here!

Thumb _mowaten_ 24 April 2015, 14:06

lol eagleyawn, so they got tons and tons of equipment, but they didnt show them at the official unloading ceremony and didnt announce them either because.... uuuh why exactly? afraid to make france or saudi look good?
and then they come and speak anonymously to the press to say there were hidden quantities because... uuuuh why again? i thought they couldnt say it, but now they can..? dude this sounds like a big mess and desperate way to make a pitiful shipment look like more than what it was.

Thumb ex-fpm 24 April 2015, 16:37

so it is normal for you in any country to parade its purchases of military equipment in front of the public? The army owes you nothing, the people of lebanon owe you nothing, there is nothing to prove. Just go ahead and continue to post what you are paid to post. Shameless!

m8 guys:
eat your heart out. our army is getting stronger by the day, which means that soon there will be no need for your hizbushaitan.
hizbushaitan said they will dissolve when we would have a strong army: will they?

Thumb _mowaten_ 24 April 2015, 14:06

geha it's actually quite the opposite: we want the army to have real equipment, we're not satisfied with the obsolete pebbles they are sending. while you cheer and clap at the slightest spit their throw your way.

Thumb ex-fpm 24 April 2015, 16:33

you want the army to have real equipment, lol. Start by having your militia give some of the 100,000 rockets it has to the LAF, some of its drones, and artillery. When you do that, you will earn yourself an upgrade from sub zero credibility to zero credibility.

Get real geha they will dissolve when Jerusalem is liberated.

Israel is now bombing Gaza in retaliation to rockets fired yesterday. Will nassrallah use this golden opportunity to liberate Jerusalem and show the Arabs how it is done;)?

Thumb Mystic 24 April 2015, 15:51

That's what you zionists said in January, that Hezbollah wouldn't dare retaliate, when they did. We heard you cowards yell, "Please stop it, you bring destruction to Lebanon!"

March 14 Alliance is the infinite shame & dishonor of Lebanon.

Batches of scrap metal from the French Army junkyard nothing else. The Army will never get stronger like this.

Qahwaji gets more than 3 bn dollars for being a humble Saudi servant.

Thumb Mystic 24 April 2015, 17:05

The little honor Qahwaji had, he sold out to the Wahabis, your masters. We need a neutral good and strong LAF commander, not a Saudi stooge.

He works against LAF policies by taking political sides.

Thumb farsical.resistance 24 April 2015, 23:51

flamethrower how is that sectarian you moron?
Mystic, there is more honor in General Jean Qahwaji's jockstrap than in all the turbans and beards from Tehran, to Qom, Najaf, to Karbala, to the sewers of Dahieh and beyond. You can tell your butt buddy that this is was a sectarian comment look like, the fact that it's true make it even more effective.

If the Iranians and their minions are really serious about arming the Lebanese army there is an easy way to do it without subjecting Lebanon to undue international sanctions, here is the simple solution
