The army announced on Wednesday the arrest of two suspects linked to detained terrorist Ahmed Miqati, reported Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3).

It said that Lebanese Walid Ghazi and Syrian Imad Fares were detained in the Bekaa Sefrin region.

Later, the military stated that it had arrested 26 Syrians in the North and Bekaa on various charges.

They were held for entering Lebanon illegally, driving without a license, and lacking identification papers.

They have since been referred to the concerned authorities for investigation.

Miqati was arrested in October on charges of belonging to a terrorist group with the aim of carrying out terror acts, forming armed groups, recruiting individuals, training them on the use of arms and explosives, and plotting to occupy the Dinniyeh region villages of Asoun, Bakhoun, Bekaa Sefrin and Sir al-Dinniyeh with the aim of creating an Islamic State emirate.
