Lovesick Man Shoots 'Girlfriend' before Turning Weapon on Himself

A lovesick young man has shot and wounded his girlfriend in the Mount Lebanon area of Aley before turning the weapon on himself, media reports said on Sunday.

“Rami Jaafar shot his girlfriend Lubna al-Ahmadiyeh in Aley before shooting himself and both of them are now in critical condition,” Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) reported.

But MTV said the girl was “shot in the back” and that her condition was “stable to good.” She was rushed to the military hospital in Beirut.

“The boyfriend was transferred in a very critical condition to the Kamal Jumblat Hospital in Choueifat,” MTV added.

It said Rami fired four gunshots at Lubna at dawn in the al-Thanawiyeh Street area of Aley.

He then “shot himself in the head,” MTV added.

The shooting erupted after a dispute between the two young “lovers,” the TV network said.

“It made Rami lose his temper, which prompted him to attempt to murder her,” the TV network said.
