MP Sami Gemayel is expected to officially assume his tasks as Kataeb Party leader during a meeting on Wednesday, al-Joumhouria newspaper reported.

The daily said that Gemayel, who was elected Kataeb chief last month, will preside at the party headquarters in Beirut's Saifi area a meeting for the new politburo and the members of the political bureau whose terms have expired.

During the meeting, which will also be attended by his father Amin Gemayel who was the Kataeb leader before the MP's election, Sami will officially assume his tasks, said the report.

Sami was born on December 3, 1980.

His older brother, Pierre, was a member of parliament and the minister of industry until his assassination on November 21, 2006.

His grandfather, Pierre Gemayel, founded the Kataeb Party in 1936. Sami is also the nephew of slain President-elect Bashir Gemayel, who was assassinated in 1982.

After the 2006 assassination of his brother Pierre, Sami rejoined the Kataeb Party to head the Youth and Student Council and he later became the coordinator of the Central Committee.

He had left the party in 2006 to form the Loubnanouna Movement.

Sophia, the one single biggest 7aram, is for Naharnet to post the activities of that sick old senile man called Aoun. As has been cemented for posterity on Black Thursday, Aoun is neither a school of thoughts nor an example to follow. Any sensible human being should abstain from this evil man's mind, he has no interests other than his. Calling himself a clean person when in all probability he is the very opposite, when in fact he is a family Don, of Duke running a family empire that relates all back to him, I therefore only thank God that last week showed beyond doubt that now most people have come to see who he is. I also thank divinity that Aoun doesn't have more daughters as he would have wanted his son-in-law to become Governor of our Central bank, oufft!!

Whyask, I am bound to disagree with your views here, even if on the surface and in general terms I do share with such views. But when it comes to the Gemayels, they are not as you think, this family on its own has shouldered and footed the bills of martyrdom, has been at the very forefront of our struggle against foreign occupation. My question, how do you expect a family like the Gemayels to survive without income? They have always been a rich family, so in truth they need not politics to extend their fortunes, unlike that sick senile old man whose job is to expropriate things that are not his and blame it on others. If we want to unfairly criticize the Gemayels, then in this case let us come forward and take the risks they have been taking since decades. With all due respects to you.

Excellent reply, and I think that Sami can be a great president one day.

@1maniooktexasusa, or rather, the one creating all those yellow and orange trolls, don't you get tired of eating your own tail? Anyway, your wine will turn to vinegar and your Energa rounds will rust in peace and you know why? Because your wait will be a long one, and you would be gone well before me anyway. Just to prove the point, your IP has been reported and the Mod Team should know soon. As you seethe and drool in your corner, drowned in your cesspool of anger, frustrated by your incapacity to react, steam-ironed flat by your cowardice to face up to those you hate so much, I my dear troll-owner (as if we didn't know you yet) am having a great and successful life.
