Aoun: Miqati Believes He Can Only Get Stronger by Covering Up Violations

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun on Tuesday accused Prime Minister Najib Miqati of “breaking the laws and covering up major violations.”

OGERO chief “Abdul Monem Youssef is being treated as a saint because we do not want to upset the premier. It seems that the premier believes he can only get stronger through breaking the laws and covering up major violations,” Aoun said.

“Covering up for major violations has become part of the Lebanese state’s routine,” he lamented.

“We have a feeling that the government does not want to finalize the (2012 draft) state budget … We reiterate that the draft state budget contains faults,” Aoun told reporters after the weekly meeting of the Change and Reform parliamentary bloc.

Commenting on a statement issued by U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly after visiting him on Monday, Aoun said: “Yes, she told us that in a respectful manner and we replied in the same manner. We are with the tribunal and justice and the Special Tribunal for Lebanon will continue its work even if we halted the funding.”

“The U.N. secretary general would provide the funds,” Aoun noted.

“We are against funding because it is unjustifiable and unconstitutional. I’m not against funding but there’s a constitution that we should respect. Parliament’s approval is mandatory to refer a case to an international court,” he explained.

Aoun added: “We’re not obstructing the judiciary’s work for them to accuse us of confronting the international community. The international community is rather confronting us. We don’t understand this arbitrary action, and this is what I told Ambassador Connelly.”

Asked about the issue of Hizbullah’s controversial attempt to install a private telecom network in the town of Tarshish, the FPM leader said “Hizbullah’s telecom network has always been there and it had led to the May 7 incidents.”

“I believe there’s nothing new in Tarshish. It is illegal for anyone to install anything on the public network but do u know that Solidere has been using the state-owned network since 25 years.”

“This is a resistance movement that cannot communicate via ‘whistling and carrier pigeons’ and it requires a freedom of movement and communication,” Aoun stressed.

On the other hand, he denied that the FPM’s relation with Hizbullah has “grown cold,” warning that “corruption will harm the Resistance should the country continue in this manner.”

Aoun also launched a tirade against Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat.

“Since the formation of the first government comprising Jumblat, they have given us a ‘good example’ about the distribution of compensations to the displaced people and the running of the state’s affairs.”

“We are using a calm rhetoric to preserve national unity, but it’s unacceptable that we be accused of their deeds,” Aoun added.

One thing is sure in Lebanon , Hezb is the strong military force on the ground , and GMA id the strong political force on the ground and at the government .. The Premier has to understand once for all , before he gets the same treatment as his predecessor , a one way ticket to Tripoli .

2005: " this is a terrorist movement"

2011: "this is a resistance movement"

funny guy...blowing with the wind which carries the most dollars.....

"I’m not against funding but there’s a constitution that we should respect."

the constitution also says that only army and police forces are the only ones to be armed....so why don t you tell the hezb they should respect the constitution? clown!

Missing peace 25 October 2011, 21:49

@yousefbeik i suggest you to reread all the speeches aoun did before 2005 and what he is doing now... the total opposite !

he many times asked the help of the USA and praised them, he said that hezb is a cancer and a terrorist party, he said that the syrian stole lebanon from its money, that the syrians corrupted even the most honest politician and that if he didn t want to it was exile or death that syria was behind the killing of hariri, that no good can happen to lebanon as long as the assad regime is in place and so on......

it seems that you are having alzheimer my poor friend!

so you are the one pathetic to support a man who has spit on his past ideas and even has the indecency of saying that there are no lebanese prisoners in syria and that the mothers should turn the page killing his old supporters a second time...
you are the one to be ashamed...

Always so funny mon general, you are a real moron, i mean , you say there are no networks in tarshish and then you say how will Hezbollah communicate around Lebanon , with birds and whistles? thus confirming that it is true that they tried installing this network

- Here are your achievements :

- Memorandum of understanding that keeps hezbollah's weapons and activities only against ennemies
Result : May 7th, construction violations, security areas, illegal networks, threats in chiite/christian vilages or other,

- Change and reform :
Result : ministries of energy, Bassil put up several compagnies in his wife's name ( your daughter) and telecommunications, you tried to steal cables from Ogero, install some illegallly for Hezbollah , recently in tarshish,

- Appointements :
Result :
Head of Lebanese university was chosen by hezb,an illetrate one language speaking sponsored by them
Head of airport security, promised to be yours, fell in their hands without any comment..go kill urself

Where does this man come up with these ridiculous topics each week??

Come on M8 and Orange order-your leader is a total joke!

Geha... Supporters of the FPM are traitors to Lebanon??? every single comment you write on this site, shows just how pathetic you and the remnants of saad hariri salafi brigade are becoming. Don't tell me you are Christian, all you ever do is insult the batrak and now call more than half of all christains traitors to Lebanon.

You may hate Aoun, that's your right and it's understandable... But to call all supporters of the FPM traitors is a new low that hasn't been crossed before on this site, so congratulations.

Thumb _citizen_ 26 October 2011, 06:32

Ado:

You blame others for labeling FPM supporters like yourself as perhaps traitors and you say they have a reached a new low on this site. I read your comments and found equally offensive language towards those who respect Saad Harriri. Harriri had nothing to do with this article at all. Yet, you managed to insert his name and labeled his followers as Salafist Brigade etc. Do you think that is a "low" as well?
I guess when you respect people and stay away from personal sectarian hatred, others will respect you and show you appreciation.

One more thing: Is Karam a supporter of the FPM?

I wish you a good stay in Australia, if indeed you are there....

@ Dagger
well said
moreover I would like to add a clarification t=as to why I consider anyone following aoun as a traitor to Lebanon:
as per the above, aoun and his team are plainly deying the truth, i.e. they are covering the syro/iranian hizbushaitan for what they are doing.
from my standpoint, anyone covering a foreign force doing bad things in our country is plainly a traitor.
furthermore, aoun is in my view the one who made harb el elghak, as well as he left his officers in the field to be slaughtered by the syrians, while he was fleeing to France, to come back supporting those same syrians ....

Thumb ado.australia 26 October 2011, 13:51

Never have I said or heard anyone claim that all mustaqbul supporters are traitors and should leave their country for Saudi Arabia. I am not a "supporter" of the FPM but I know many who are, and they are very patriotic and love their country. For them to be called traitors and that they should leave and live in Iran by people who proberbly still refuse or not know the Lebanese anthem is offensive. Aoun does not take orders from foreigners... But he has foriegn allies.

There is only one side that constantly hates, promotes that hate and fear. The world will come to an end if mustaqbul are out of power and "Lebanon will be isolated and a piarah of the international community if this government was to be formed". They hope for Lebanon's destruction and failure. They pray for the economy and people to suffer more just to prove their "politics" is right .

They dream and beg for fellow Lebanese to be killed and invaded to vanquish their domestic rivals. Who are the real traitors?

i read and then laugh at all your posts. Both Aoun and you are nothing but syrian bootlickers, hang your head in shame

Thumb ado.australia 26 October 2011, 16:00

Allouchi... I never have claimed that all mustaqbul are not patriotic and I definitely not believe that all sunnis are either mustaqbul supporters or that they are not patriotic! Why twist it that way? I know many Sunnies and have many  friends, especially from trablous. Some support mustaqbul and some don't. Many, many of  my friends and relatives are LF and kataeb, I do get out and I meet and know many Lebanese... It's also my profession!

khalil Gebran wrote. "Pity the nation that welcomes its new ruler with trumpeting, and farewells him with hooting, only to welcome another with trumpeting again."

Geha and his mates... Welcoming Syria against Aoun in 1990, accepting and benefiting from their occupation, and then cursing them as they left and ever since,  then begging for Israel and NATO to kill and destroy their fellow Lebanese in the south.

I am not m8. I was very active and it was my proudest day on 14/3/05. I have been on this site since 2002. If naharnet had your policy of only hariri supporters allowed to post or read this site then they would not be very successful. I wonder what the martyr Gibran would think of that comment ?

Syria has left. They will not come back. If they did, I will be the 1st against them. Iran will never control Lebanon. This is rubbish. Ksa has much more influence and control over lebanon and u don't say anything.

Hezballah are Lebanese. The south have been killed and neglected for decades. They are now strong. They provide a source of protection against israel's unrestricted military force against Lebanon and the Palestinians. We must build their trust, and support our fellow leb. Together, we can convince them to merge with leb army. To take advantage of their strength and discipline. I do not fear them. Neither should u. No one can rule Lebanon on their own.

Look at Komrade Qawmi john in Australia he's so cute trying to pass for a participant in the M14 2005 demonstration that's just his latest attempt at credibility you know. Of course anyone following his posts since the beginning knows better, anyways next he's gonna claim he was in Zahleh defending it against the Syrians on 1981.

@Naharnet
funny enough that my post which had no bad language has been suppressed!]aMy comment was a clarification with facts, but you chose to rmove it, while aggressive posts from Aounists are allowed on this site, using bad words, and so on.
what is the basis of your censorship?

Thumb ado.australia 26 October 2011, 18:41

Avenger... Sorry, wrong...! This has nothing to do with mustaqbul supporters. The article was about salafist Palestinians attacking the Batrak. Geha wrote, (before his post was deleted) that the "salafist" don't exist and  were a  conspiracy, made up by hezballah and Syria, and he used Naher bared as an example. He claimed that they were pro syrian regime and hezballah, and that it was they that were attacking the batrak.

Sorry, but good luck with ur propaganda. Keep trying.
