Kuwaiti Embassy Advises Citizens against Traveling to Lebanon

The Kuwaiti embassy in Lebanon on Thursday advised its citizens against traveling to Lebanon, urging those already in the country to be “extremely cautious” in their movements.

The embassy called on Kuwaitis to avoid what it described as “suspicious locations,” asking them to “communicate and coordinate with the embassy when needed, in order to preserve their security and safety.”

The country plunged into a political crisis after president Michel Suleiman's term ended on May 25, 2014 without the election of a successor.

In recent days, the country witnessed angry road-blocking protests over an unprecedented garbage collection crisis.

The unprecedented garbage crisis erupted after the closure of the Naameh landfill on July 17.

The crisis has seen streets overflowing with waste and the air filled with the smell of rotting garbage for around two weeks.
