There was cautious calm in the southern Palestinian refugee camp of Ain el-Hilweh on Sunday morning, hours after tension that was caused by grenade attacks.

The state-run National News Agency said eight grenades were tossed in the camp's different neighborhoods. Gunmen also opened fire without causing casualties.

The joint security forces worked on opening an investigation to hold accountable the parties responsible for the tension, said the agency.

It added that Palestinian officials expressed fear over the return of gunbattles to the camp that lies near the city of Sidon.

Several people were killed last month when Fatah Movement gunmen and Islamists clashed at the camp.

Ain el-Hilweh is an impoverished, overcrowded camp home to some 61,000 Palestinians, including 6,000 who fled the war in Syria.

Now that the people have started asking to reclaim their rights, beaches, mountains hence and so forth, we also want these camps back to us. Who gave these lands to these ungrateful guests, how and why? These camps should be reclaimed and built as part of a self-sustaining estate housing project countrywide. They could have their own hospitals, clinics, schools, cinemas, shopping centers, police stations, theaters, in brief, all revenue making amenities for the said housing projects. Apartments should be given under a 30 year soft loan to our youth so that they can marry and raise families without having to leave the country, but only Lebanese citizens are illegible. So what are we waiting for, let's get back what is ours and for the good of our youth. Enough of these ungrateful foreigners.
