Bellemare Wants to Delay Trials in Absentia Pending New Indictment

Leidschendam, Naharnet Exclusive: Special Tribunal for Lebanon Prosecutor Daniel Bellemare is preparing for a new surprise that he hinted in a document he submitted to the court last week ahead of a hearing on Friday on whether proceedings in absentia against four Hizbullah members were appropriate.

The four members - Salim Ayyash, Mustafa Badreddine, Hussein Oneissi, and Assad Sabra - are wanted for the Feb. 2005 assassination of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri and 22 others.

High-ranking STL sources told Naharnet that Bellemare believes it is premature to begin a trial in absentia because his investigations have revealed the names of more suspects involved in the murders and assassination attempts that targeted Lebanese personalities between 2004 and 2005.

The sources said the prosecutor has reached a stage of issuing a new indictment that includes his probe’s new findings.

According to information received by Naharnet, the list of new suspects most likely includes names of people who are active on several fronts and whose places of residence are known which would prevent them from going into hiding or for influential political parties in Lebanon or in more than one regional country from protecting them.

mowaten just face the facts: the way hariri was killed looks in all points similar to the way the syrians used in the past to kill politicians in lebanon , no? e.g. how did rene moawad die? the same way...
the syrians always killed but no one ever attempted to do something against them, no? how did all pro M14 die? the same way...
this time they thought it would be the same, as usual...
strange coincidences aren t they?
hariri was killed a few months after he said no to the syrians, strange isn t it?
the investigations were led by many experts from various nationalities: were they all paid by israel? come on!
your friend aoun said it was the syrians: was he paid by israel to say so?

the evidence your beloved party claims to have why are they reluctant to hand them to the STL?

be objective and admit that all evidence points to syria and their watchdogs in lebanon...

isnt it iroinic mowaten that many officers or high ranking officials in charge of the lebanese affairs were killed or "suicided" just as if syria wanted to erase all evidence pointing to the regime... (ghazi kanaan: suicided, mohamed sleimane: killed, georges al gharbi killed, fawwaz one of hezbollah's security responsibe in beirut...)

funny all these coincidences aren t they?

Tis court is a farce, until a similar court is established to judge tose responsible for murdering 100.000 during the lebanese genocide 1975-1990.
R.hariri is no better than the innocent who were murdered by war lords whose place of residence is well known in lebanon and abroad!
Those war lords committed a genocide against a people and assisinated a nation.

I hope they name most of our corrupt political leaders
Ooops, Syria is not a safe place for them to hide in at the moment
Maybe consider Palestine

The evidence is all from telecoms records, right?
And Lebanon arrested all kinds of Israeli spies who had been working in Lebanese telecoms, right?
