Al-Rahi Urges Blocs to 'Make up their Minds as Country on Verge of Collapse'

Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi stressed on Sunday that the Lebanese people are “entitled to live in a country that respects their rights.”

He said during his Sunday sermon: “We urge political and parliamentary blocs that are obstructing the presidential elections to make up their minds as soon as possible because the country is on the verge of collapse.”

The Lebanese people have the right to a state “that believes in the general good and that adheres to the constitution, National Pact, and democratic system that Lebanon has adopted and that is mentioned in the opening chapters of the constitution.”

Lebanon has been without a president since May 2014 when the term of Michel Suleiman ended without the election of a successor.

Conflicts between the rival March 8 and March 14 camps have thwarted all attempts at electing a successor.

A presidential elections session is scheduled for Monday.

If the Lebanese model were followed in neighboring Israel, the, what?, two percent of Israelis who are Christian would be allowed to name half the members of the Knesset (National Pact standard revised downwards by the Taef Accord and enshrined in Article 24 of the Lebanese Constitution) and finally peace and justice would come to Israel/Palestine. This is because Christians are by their very nature peaceloving and just.

Well said. Fully agree. Batrak should nominate 2 or 3 people like Ziad Baroud or Carlos Ghosn...

The Christians have already agreed on a candidate patriarch Rahi, but treason and treachery by Hariri and AlSaud of 3arabia is preventing the country from having a president.
