The U.S. Embassy in Lebanon has sponsored five delegates from Lebanon to join over 700 participants from 170 countries to open the 2016 Global Entrepreneurship Summit in California’s Silicon Valley.

The three-day summit, which will take place from June 22-24, is an opportunity for inspiring investors to network with new colleagues and collaborate with American entrepreneurs and investors.

The summit seeks to “connect those with the most innovative ideas with the resources and financial opportunities to transform their dreams into a reality,” the Embassy said in a statement.

“Lebanon and America share a long and proud tradition of entrepreneurship. It is fitting that this year’s summit will be held in Silicon Valley – a global center for innovation – and I am confident that Lebanon and America have much to learn from each other,” said U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Danny Hall.

Lebanon’s delegates will join high-level U.S. Government officials, including President Barack Obama, Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, Administrator of the Small Business Administration Maria Contreras-Sweet, Administrator of USAID Gayle Smith, Ambassador at-Large for Global Women's Issues Catherine Russell, and Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs Richard Stengel.

The summit is the seventh such gathering of entrepreneurs and investors. The governments of the United States, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Morocco, and Kenya have hosted past summits.
