Hizbullah Denies Reports of Heavy Losses in Qalamoun

W460

Hizbullah denied Thursday media reports about heavy losses for the group in the Syrian border region of Qalamoun near Lebanon's frontier.

“The armed groups' claims about the death and capture of resistance fighters in Qalamoun are totally baseless,” a Hizbullah military commander told al-Mayadeen television.

“It is an attempt to cover up for their setbacks,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Sky News Arabia had quoted Syrian opposition sources as saying that “twenty-seven Hizbullah fighters were killed and 14 others were captured in Qalamoun.”

For its part, the pro-opposition Orient News TV said “rebels launched a fierce attack on the posts of Hizbullah and the regime forces in the countryside of Western Qalamoun at dawn Thursday, during which they managed to liberate the al-Safa checkpoint and inflict heavy casualties on Hizbullah and the regime forces.”

Al-Safa checkpoint separates between Rankous' western outskirts and the peripheries of the Barada Valley, according to Orient News.

“The rebels also seized control of a 57mm howitzer, two tanks, two cars, heavy- and medium-caliber weapons and a quantity of ammunition,” the TV network added.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed the clashes, saying they started when Islamist rebels and jihadists from the Qaida-linked al-Nusra Front seized control of the al-Safa checkpoint and captured armored vehicles and ammunition belonging to the regime forces and Hizbullah.

“There are confirmed reports of casualties on both sides amid airstrikes on the area of the clashes,” the Observatory said.

It later reported the death of four Islamist rebels and jihadists in the fighting, including the “al-Nusra emir of the Sirghaya region” and “the commander of a rebel brigade.”

Hizbullah's intervention in the Syrian conflict alongside regime forces has helped Damascus achieve several military victories and allowed the party to clear most of the Lebanese-Syrian border region from rebels and jihadists.

Since 2013, the Lebanese, Iran-backed party has sent thousands of combatants -- between 5,000 and 6,000, according to the expert on Hizbullah Waddah Sharara -- to help the regime fight both rebels and jihadists. They send 2,000 fighters at a time in rotation, Sharara says.

Experts say Hizbullah has lost 1,000 to 2,000 fighters in the conflict, including senior commanders.

“The rebels also seized control of a 57mm howitzer, two tanks, two cars, heavy- and medium-caliber weapons and a quantity of ammunition,”

so the captured tanks were driven by ghosts. The howitzer was operated by ghosts. The terrorist party denies.... LOL

Iranian terrorist

Orient news reported the death of your last batch of 27 terrorists in Aleppo. Orient news reported the death of the iranian terrorist Baderdeine. Orient News reported the death of Mughniyeh and his son. It seems they have a pretty good record when it comes to reporting the death of your terrorists. I have every reason to trust them.

Myth-tick that's what ypu said not a week ago when the story of the high casualties in Aleppo, then hassin, poor hassin, confirmed it in his latest "Speech From the Sewers" broadcast that he was leaking Jihadis in Aleppo, ie many HA Jihadis got their popo blown off in Aleppo.

Thumb Al-Ba3th 07 July 2016, 21:40

Actually Myth-tick I enjoy news stories about AlQaeda, Nusra, IS and HA and myriad other Jihadi terrorists getting blow up and sent on their way to that lemonade stand up in the sky. Imagine the fisticuffs and the pushing and shoving when they all arrive at the same time, try to open at heaven's gate and those damn keys won't work. Meanwhile Mephistopheles is sitting watching the ensuing ruckus waiting for reality to sink in those diluted young minds and then dragging them one by one to their final eternal fiery abode.
One last thing Myth-tick, did you lift the "civilians casualties" bit directly from the IDF's news briefings of 2006 or did you remember it by heart, because what you wrote is reminiscent of what the Israelis used to say every time they brought a building down in Dahieh or a hospital was blown up in the south except the "200 takfiris from Ahrar Al Sham/Nusra" were "200 terrorists from HA". Sad when someone claiming to support the "Resistance" plagiarizes from the IDF.

chrisrushlau do you call 30-35% of the population, that's counting all the Shi3as in Lebanon, to rule by force of "arms rule-of-law" "democratic state"? What are smoking son?

Missing hajjradwan 07 July 2016, 18:45

I think chrisrushlau is just confused between Lebanon, where according to unofficial figures all Muslims are 60 to 70% of the population and 30 to 40% all Christians, with other countries in the region. That's only registered Lebanese citizens not including the unregistered offspring of the expats and recent immigrants who are citizens or the expats who never registered but can reclaim the citizenship. Although the figure in unofficial the official voters roster and extensive surveys seem to support those figures. That is why he's always railing against Article 24.

"so-called Christians"? look guys Chis is now in charge of defining who's a real Christian and who's a so-called Christian and us Lebanese Christians are not real Christians. Not a word about this from the great defenders of Christian rights FPM contingent matriculating here, not even from the ones with multiple and ever multiplying daily accounts.
Regardless Chis is highly qualified for this, distributing Christian credentials. After all he's such an intellectual giant and the mighty US army was so impressed by this during his tenure the joint chefs, after a long meeting, promoted him to the mess hall and on latrine cleaning duty. Oh Chis, you missed a spot..

Whatever happened to the 72 hour nationwide ceasefire the regime promised yesterday? It looks like it was as real as all the ceasefires it had promised to uphold throughout the years back in the day here in Lebanon when the regime's rockets were murdering Lebanese rather than Syrians.
