Geagea to Le Pen: Assad a Terrorist No Different than Islamic State

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea received on Tuesday visiting France's far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen in Maarab, where he stressed that Syrian President Bashar Assad is a terrorist no different than the Islamic State terror group.

“I took my time to explain to Le Pen the unclear images that reach the West and that we are all against terrorism which has no religion. Based on the aforesaid, Bashar Assad is one of the biggest terrorists in Syria and the region,” said Geagea after the meeting.

“One can’t forget the military operations he conducted over tens of years. One can't forget the terror acts he carried out. He can't stay in Syria, so (we say) no to the Islamists and no to Bashar,” he stressed, adding that the issue was discussed at length with Le Pen.

On the first day of her two-day visit, Le Pen, head of the anti-immigration National Front, called Assad “the most reassuring solution for France" and said the best way to protect minority Christians is to "eradicate" the Islamic State group preying on them — not turn them into refugees.

She said she told Prime Minister Saad Hariri that there is "no viable and workable solution" to the Syrian civil war beyond choosing between Assad and IS.

Le Pen has made known her pro-Assad position in the past, but it took on extra weight in the context of her high-profile foreign visit. Her stance represents a major divergence from official French policy and that of Hariri, who is allied with Saudi Arabia against the Syrian leader.

Discussions in Maarab have also highlighted the Lebanese-French ties, Geagea said: “Relations with France have always been good and we look forward to make them better in the future.”

Onto ASSad and his war crimes. Get your vest on and go defend him. Vilayet e faqih has ordered you to.

Hizbollah bomb truck driven to Marines and French paratroops? Leaders of terrorists. Towel head nasrallah last massacre in 2006 is 1300 innocent Lebanese citizens..should we continue how he turned his weapons internally in Beirut? Not to mentioned Lebanese army Hanna and HAJ. One implicated Hezbollah and the other crossed the red line of the towel head and saved us from the terrorists in nahr el bared.

Thumb Mystic 21 February 2017, 15:51

Geageas blind hatred for Assad could be the doom of Lebanon had the Resistance not intervened to protect us all.

Geagea would make a pact with the devil, if that would rid him off Assad.

Thumb the_roar 21 February 2017, 16:12

So why did Aoun & HA accept him back?

If it wasn't for them, he was finished!!

Hariri & KSA were done with him & tossed him like a salad.

Only by Aoun making a pact with HA's consent did he become relevant again.

Shameful at best from Aoun & HA.

Thumb Mystic 21 February 2017, 16:26

Same reason to make Hariri Prime Minister, keep the peace between all factions.

Even though I despise them both, we would've had a civil disobedience without them.
Welcome to Lebanon roar, this is how it works.

Thumb the_roar 21 February 2017, 16:35

Sorry Mystic, I am not one who accepts evil in order to keep peace.

You already forgot the Language he used towards HA & in particular H.Nasrallah?

have you forgotten already who he was siding with in 2006 & 2008?
Do you think he can ever be trusted?

I cannot accept what Aoun & HA agreed on to allow his survival
Sorry!

Missing ArabDemocrat.com 21 February 2017, 14:51

Slizern ... Let us assume that he is guilty of every crime that he has been accused of. Who are you to pass judgement considering you support someone who butchered tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of people!? I wish all leaders in Lebanon are put on trial to account for what they did and continue to do. But you Slizern has zero credibility on this topic

Thumb Southern...... 21 February 2017, 15:00

but you always repeat in every comment he "butchered tens of thousands" but when and how!? propaganda. why not denoucing with same frequency & insistance what the so-called opposition did, i mean the cannibals and the ISIS terrorists. Biased.

Thumb Southern...... 21 February 2017, 16:10

only we have to follow some "personalities" in this forum such as arab/democrat and mohammad/ca, who want to implant democracy in the arab world while they still talking about Sunnis, Shia, safawites and heretics... do you want to liberate Palestine with that "brilliant" and deep thoughts!? btw.

pity and shameful.

Missing mohammad_ca 21 February 2017, 16:24

Southern so long as you follow vilayet e faqih instead of the Lebanese state then you are a sectarian by definition

Missing mohammad_ca 21 February 2017, 16:58

Only according to international reputable human rights orgs. But I understand you just only listen to what vilayet e faqih tells you like a typical safawite sheep.

Missing ArabDemocrat.com 21 February 2017, 17:35

Slizern ... Of all of these terms, I use Safawi because your side accuse the other (and at will) of being Salafi (it rhimes), Zionist, traitor, Isis, nusra and Al Qaeda. And Safawi is a very apt term to describe people like you whose loyalty is to a theocracy in Iran rather than to their own people. And when you support a monster that killed at the very least tens of thousands of people including mass torture, liquidations and countless massacres, the words you are complaining about are the least of anyone worry.

Missing ArabDemocrat.com 21 February 2017, 17:39

And people like you will never liberate Palestine and your assistance is not needed. Only when Arabs are free and living in democratic states with a rule of law will they be able to build advanced states that are able to help Palestinians liberate.

Thumb Southern...... 21 February 2017, 18:33

that's why Iran is hosting the conference of supporting the Palestinian cause, while Saudi arabia is fighting/invading Yemen along with the Israelis.

Missing peace 21 February 2017, 18:39

southern go and tell to the lebanese mothers that the syrian regime never harmed their sons! tfeh 3aleyk to support such a person. you hate lebanon that is all...

i guess then that the new lebanese president is also a liar as he also denounced syrian crimes? but you call him a patriot don't you, ya hypocrit?

Missing ArabDemocrat.com 21 February 2017, 19:00

Hosting what? Please stop using Palestine as a fig leaf to kill the Syrian people and undermine the Arab world. As for Yemen, the main responsibility for the mayhem is an apocalyptic cult leader with messianic ambitions, a former autocrat who is corrupt to the bone and who made the country into a family business and Iranian ambitions to dominate large parts of the Arab world through series of sectarian militias answerable only to them.

I have said it before and I will say it now: I have the utmost respect for Dactor Geagea for taking his time to explain to France's far-right presidential candidate Marine Le Pen who is a terrorist and who is not.

My respect was further solidified for Dactor Geagea when he said he has no hostility towards Hizbollah, for having concerns regarding the policy statement, and for confirming the Cedar Revolution is still alive and well.

God bless dr Geagea for the truest statement I've heard so far about Le Pen's visit.

A filthy convicted murderer is preaching about murder.

How sad the General allowed this discarded criminal to remain somewhat relevant in Lebanese affairs.

He was tossed aside by his allies & only by tugging in the Generals tail coats did he have a chance to survive..

What was the General thinking?
