Turkey Threatens to Strike Kurd Militia unless It Leaves Syria's Manbij

Turkey on Wednesday threatened to strike Syrian Kurdish militia forces if they do not withdraw from Manbij, a former bastion of the Islamic State (IS) group that has been taken over by predominantly Kurdish forces.

"We have said before we will strike the YPG if they do not retreat" from Manbij, Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told journalists, referring to the Kurdish People's Protection Units.

The YPG, which Ankara considers a "terrorist" organization, is backed by the United States as the most effective fighting force on the ground in the battle against IS.

The Turks are very good at creating problems for themselves these days.

That I agree with. They strategy and tactics definitely need improvement. They have been outmaneuvered during much of the conflict.

Poor Kurds, they really are surrounded by many natural and historical enemies... they cut a deal with the Syrian devil... can't blame them, they are out of options. But this will cost them dearly when their Arab neighbors, once allies, will reconquer their land militarily, politically or both.

If Syria is the Devil, Turkey must be really bad... And besides Syria and Iraq, who are these "Arab neighbours" you talk about, and when did they give a damn about the Kurds?

I wonder where they have the right to vote in free Democratic elections. There are many issues one can take with the way the Turkish state treated the Kurds, but to compare the two right now is outright obscene

Who is killing Kurds en masse, Syria or Turkey?
