Israel Army Vows to Strike Hizbullah Arms Convoys, Warns Lebanese Govt.

Israel will continue to “prevent the transfer of advanced weapons to Hizbullah” and "in the next war there will be a clear address: the Lebanese government,” Israeli army chief Gadi Eisenkot said on Sunday.

"There’s been quiet on the Lebanese border for over a decade. The security situation and peace are common interests to both Israel and Lebanon, but the IDF (Israeli army) will not be deceived by the tranquility," Eisenkot said at a ceremony marking a change in the Northern Command, in remarks published on the English-language website of The Jerusalem Post newspaper.

"Hizbullah continues to arm itself and grow inside Lebanon. We will continue to act decisively to thwart these efforts and will continue to prevent the transfer of advanced weapons to Hizbullah,” he added.

"In the next war there will be a clear address: the Lebanese government,” Eisenkot said, adding that "Hizbullah continues to violate U.N. resolutions and prepare themselves for war.”

“In light of the changes in Lebanon and Syria, the IDF will act to prepare for any scenario," Eisenkot went on to say.

Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman meanwhile threatened Sunday to destroy Syrian air defense systems after they fired ground-to-air missiles at Israeli warplanes carrying out strikes.

Israeli warplanes hit several targets in Syria on Friday, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying the strikes targeted weapons bound for Hizbullah.

In April 2016, Netanyahu admitted for the first time that Israel had attacked dozens of convoys transporting weapons in Syria destined for Hizbullah, which fought a 2006 war with Israel and is now battling alongside the Damascus regime.

"Each time we discover arms transfers from Syria to Lebanon we will act to stop them. On this there will be no compromise," Lieberman said Sunday.

"The Syrians must understand that they are held responsible for these arms transfers to Hizbullah and that if they continue to allow them then we will do what we have to do," he added.

Thank you Aoun

The Lebanese Army and Hezbollah are one entity according to Aoun and Israel will treat them as such in any future confrontation.

Just as they always did, they bombed Lebanese Soldiers in 2006 too remember? Back then it was a March 14 government.

did Israel bomb the Ministry of Defense, the Presidential Palace, or the Grand Serail in 2006? Well, next time around it will.

Thumb thepatriot 19 March 2017, 23:12

Mystic... are you that dumb? Seriously??

Missing incorruptible 20 March 2017, 02:49

Hahaha you idiots clearly don't understand politics, or anything else for that matter. They've been threatening to bomb and attack for the past 12 years , and every summer since was supposed to be a "hot" summer. Why hasn't that happened you think ? Do you want me to draw it for you?

Thumb galaxy 20 March 2017, 10:34

It's all just a ploy, remember, Gulf Media claims Israel and Hezbollah are secret allies!

Missing peace 20 March 2017, 14:01

not gulf media but common sense something you lack dimwit...
both need lebanon to be weak to thrive...
both need each other to justify their arsenal...
both need each other to be financed by foreign countires.. israel by USA and hezbis by iran...

so you see dimwit both have lots in common and you support that! LOL lowlife zionist you are

Thumb gigahabib 20 March 2017, 15:02

Lol, Israel would want a strong Lebanon, if Lebanon was pro-Israeli. If Gemayel had not been killed, you can be sure the Israelis would have given him all the weapons he wanted.

Missing peace 20 March 2017, 16:01

you sectarian hatred blinds your judgement... if lebanon was strong it would be an economic danger to israel! beirut port would be attractive and compete with israelis ports... lebanese are very strong in service sectors if a powerful gvt would give them a chance it would be a hit to israel...investors would invest here instead of israel, but a powerful economy is bad for hezbi businesses and you know it dimwit.

Thumb gigahabib 20 March 2017, 16:25

So that's why the Israelis are bombing Jordan and Egypt today, right?

Missing arturo 20 March 2017, 14:30

Lebanon needs to clearly state that Hizbollah is part of the Leb government and the government is responsible for its actions.
