Geagea: We Hold Onto the Democratic Process that was Abused by Hizbullah

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea vowed in an open letter to Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Monday to hold onto the democratic process despite being abused by the Shiite group.

“History will not go backwards even if it faced a stumbling block at some point,” Geagea told Nasrallah in his open letter.

Nasrallah slammed Geagea on Sunday for criticizing former PM Omar Karami. He accused the LF leader of killing ex-Prime Minister Rashid Karami during the civil war.

“If you want to know his killer and the assassin of (President-elect) Bashir Gemayel, you should become part of the judicial process like us,” Geagea told Nasrallah.

“You know the secrets of the Lebanese war more than anybody else,” he said.

The LF leader criticized the Hizbullah chief for saying that the March 14 forces were not accepting his candidate for the premiership who will come through a democratic process.

“What kind of a democratic process are you talking about?” Geagea asked Nasrallah. “Was the deployment of Hizbullah members in Beirut alleys last Tuesday called a democratic process?”

Geagea also criticized Democratic Gathering leader MP Walid Jumblat’s decision to nominate the March 8 candidate for the premiership.

“Is the change in the Democratic Gathering’s stance part of the peaceful democratic process?” he wondered.
