Communist Party Decries 'Political' Attack after 3 Members 'Beaten', Held at ISF Checkpoint

A clash erupted Monday at the Dahr al-Baydar checkpoint between the members of the Internal Security Forces and supporters of the Lebanese Communist Party who were returning from the annual May Day demo in Beirut.
The National News Agency said the LCP supporters were on a bus.
The dispute broke out “after the bus passengers refused to pull flags hoisted from the windows into the vehicle so that they don't rub against ISF members and other vehicles,” NNA said.
The party issued a statement later in the day saying its supporters “were forced to get off the bus under the excuse that party flags were flying outside it and that they should be put inside, although all political parties are being allowed to hoist their flags in this manner without being prevented by anyone.”
“Things did not stop here and the comrades Mohammed, Mansour and Abdul Khaleq Jamaleddine – three brothers from the town of al-Jamaliyeh – were taken to the police station where they were beaten severely,” the LCP added.
“The comrade Mansour was wounded in the head as a result and was offered first aid by the Lebanese Red Cross before being transferred – following repeated requests by us – to the Riyaq Hospital where his medical condition is currently under monitoring,” the party said.
The statement noted that the three brothers “are still being arbitrarily detained until the moment, despite all the contacts that the party's leadership has conducted with the relevant authorities.”
“The party's political bureau condemns this aggression and labels it as a political attack on public freedoms and the right to peaceful expression and assembly,” the party added, demanding “the immediate release of the detained comrades” and vowing to “follow up on the case and sue the perpetrators.”

they must be the ISF of Rifi and Hariri, in other word fascists who want to impede the freedom of expression and the freedom of movement!

Southern
I thought you supported the Lebanese security forces whether they are the Army, ISF, General Security, or similar.
It seems your sectarian bias always clouds your choices.

but what it has to do with sectarianism!!! the communist party is comprised by all sects, Christians are the majority.... your fascist logic, no?

The ISF is not a neutral faction as the Lebanese Army is.
They had leaders such as Rifi, which means they are totally politicized and Saudi influenced.
They harassed these people on the workers day.

and coming from a shia iranian it carries a lot of credibility.
The general security headed by a shia appointee of iran and hezbollah is neutral.

you are making ridiculous of yourself... even in bus, the flags cant reach other cars as those shown in the picture of your american celebration

That public safety was an issue, yes it was. One needs to know Dahr-El-Baydar's area roads. Those in charge of the people on the bus should have made the correct decision - comply with the ISF's reasonable request even if it felt like استفزاز because that's what civilized folks do. One can later lodge a complaint, then again we Lebanese tend to be hotheaded.
That said, if the treatment of the detainees as described by the article is correct then the ISF members went too far as well. Nothing in the articles described actions justifies violence. Of course, it may be that the victim instigated the violence nevertheless we expect the ISF to be more professional and more controlled. In theory they should be serving the people.

Unfortunately, it is people like southern, mystic, mowaten etc who give the shia a bad name. They support every unlawful and illegal act and turn it into a sectarian matter.
