The Chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Appropriations Committee (HAC), Rodney Frelinghuysen, led a Congressional delegation visit to Lebanon on October 16-19, the U.S. Embassy said on Thursday.

Frelinghuysen was joined by fellow HAC member, Representative Henry Cuellar.

During the visit, the delegation met with Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces General Joseph Aoun.

They discussed “the effectiveness of U.S. military assistance to Lebanon,” the Embassy said.

The delegation visited Hamat Air Base and observed the newly-arrived M2A2 Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicles and the A-29 Super Tucano aircraft provided by the United States.

In their meetings, Representatives Frelinghuysen and Cuellar reinforced the United States' “intention to maintain a strong partnership with the people and institutions of Lebanon and the importance of Lebanon’s security, stability and prosperity,” the U.S. Embassy in Beirut said in its statement.
