The “strained” relationship between the Lebanese Forces and al-Mustaqbal Movement which “suffered some flaws” recently, has “greatly recovered” in the past days, the Kuwaiti Asseyasah daily reported on Friday.
LF sources told the daily that “channels of communication have been opened between the two parties in order to settle things down and restore normal ties,” affirming strong relations between the two.
Ties were allegedly strained between the LF and Mustaqbal amid reports claiming that the “LF has played an inciting role against the Mustaqbal Movement leader Prime Minister Saad Hariri when its ministers paid a visit to the Kingdom.”
Reports have also alleged that a "mini" cabinet reshuffle will take place and that the changes will affect ministers of the LF and the Free Patriotic Movement.
“What happened was a passing summer cloud that will not affect the path of our relations. The differences can be overcome just like we did in the past,” stressed the LF source on condition of anonymity.
He concluded saying that a meeting between the LF chief Samir Geagea and Hariri will “shortly take place.”
Neither the Lebanese Forces nor al-Mustaqbal Movement have spoken about the alleged tense ties. LF sources have denied the claims.
Hakim : these are the Results of your Historical mistake allying with corrupt traitors and Ebola servants.
cornering hezbollah? lol and how is/was that?
Regardless of who it was (franjieh or aoun) hezbollah would still have won.
Geagea's mistake is unforgivable. I once was one of his supporters. Wake up, they are all corrupt and opportunists. You believe 'defusing' tensions among Christians by electing a president owned by hezbollah takes precedence over freedom and sovereignty?
Well, to some of us there is no substitute for freedom and pride regardless of the personal rewards the FPM and its followers are reaping at the moment.
lebanonforever:
My honest opinion is as follows: Geagea is no fool and he knew that Aoun was totally in Hezbollah's side pocket. I believe he made a deal to share power/rewards with Aoun and some other election alliances and perhaps a promise of future support in his bid for a potential presidency.
I disagree that Hezbollah did not want any president in Lebanon. Hezbollah wants a president more than you and I and all of the Lebanese combined. Having a president, a prime minister and institutions remotely controlled is ideal for hezbollah. It needs these institutions to hide behind in order to avoid total sanctions and isolation. It needs a Christian president who advocates its case and a Sunni prime minister to shelter it from Arab anger.
If Lebanon is left without above coverages, it will be considered a rogue state and no one would bet an eye if Israel attacked Lebanon and wiped it off the face of the earth.
As to defusing tensions between Christians, I can tell you that today these tensions are higher than ever. The FPM ministers specially Bassil ( who effectively runs the country) want to affect a ministerial change to rule out some of the Lebanese Forces ministers.
Leb4ever... I fully agree with barrymore... I would also add that you have to be true to your principles. Geagea in my opinion wanted to be part of the government isn order to keep an eye on what happens, and prevent Ebola to pull all the strings, but it was a wrong calculus. The result is void. It serevs no purpose. he lost his credibility amongs many supportes like Barrymore or myself... You do not deal with the Devil! geagea did. this so called alliance with FMP is against logic, nature, morality... it is doomed... and will collapse soon enough... unless Geagea gets softer... which unfortunately seems to be the case...
Spot on Barry!
Hezbollah wants a puppet Christian President who goes to Europe and tells them Hezbollah is fighting Terrorism and a weak Prime Minister who hold an interview with Western Press and tells them Hezbollah has not used its weapons against Lebanese.
Hezbollah wants to participate in any and every government while it carries out Iran's agenda inside and outside Lebanon. In doing so, its presence in any Lebanese government legitimizes its activities under the umbrella of the "Lebanese Government".
Seriously people, wake up! Hezbollah is already in total control of Lebanon's institutions from top to bottom including the Armed Forces. The recent Arsal battles proved to any doubter who is the decision maker even when it comes to military matters.
