Prime Minister Saad Hariri on Monday received at the Grand Serail the Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zaspykin in the presence of Hariri's adviser for Russian Affairs George Shaaban where talks highlighted the latest developments and the means to promote bilateral relations between the two countries, Hariri's media office said.

Zaspykin said: “We discussed means of developing relations between the two countries in all fields this year in light of PM Hariri's recent visit to Moscow.”

“We also touched on a meeting scheduled in Spring for the Joint Government Committee on Economic and Cultural Cooperation that will convene in Beirut, as well as on military and technical cooperation,” added the Ambassador, noting that Russia has provided $500,000 in assistance to vaccinate Lebanese and Syrian children through UNICEF.

The Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zaspykin has earned my utmost respect and captured my wildest imagination for noting that Russia has provided $500,000 in assistance to vaccinate Lebanese and Syrian children through UNICEF.

Why is Beirut not the city where Syrian peace negotiations are held?
Why is Beirut not the City for Arab-Iranian talks to reduce regional tension so financial and mind resources in the region are used to usher the Middle East Golden Age instead of North Korean copycat. Wasn't Lebanon at the forefront of pan-Arabism and provided much of the intellectual force?
Why is Beirut not the City for reexamining the Arab Spring and redefining the road map to democracy and human right before we enter the Arab Winter Freeze?
Why is Beirut and Mount Lebanon not the permanent seat for Middle Eastern Christian Center and Christian-Muslim Permanent Center for dialogue, coordination and community actions?
But first we need to rediscover Cedar Revolution principles so Lebanon and its people have a chance for a better life.
