Aoun: We Will Support al-Rahi’s Position on Arms When the Time Comes

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun revealed on Tuesday that armed individuals had infiltrated Lebanon in the east, indirectly implying that they had arrived from Syria.

He said after the Change and Reform bloc’s weekly meeting: “We will support Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi’s position on the possession of arms in Lebanon when the time comes.”

He added that Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah also supports the MP’s view on the matter.

The patriarch had said on Sunday: “The state is obligated to guarantee the people’s safety, gather all arms, and limit security duties to the state, which will therefore ensure an arms-free Beirut and arms-free Lebanon.”

On Defense Minister Fayez Ghosn’s claims that al-Qaida members had infiltrated Syria through Lebanon, Aoun said: “The minister is the most qualified individual to make statements on al-Qaida.”

“The fact that another minister does not have information on the matter does not mean that he is denying the allegations,” stated the FPM leader.

The minister had said last week that members of al-Qaida had entered the Bekaa town of Arsal and later infiltrated Syria.

Addressing the twin bombings that killed over 40 people in Damascus on Friday, Aoun remarked: “Destruction cannot change the regime.”

The Syrian regime accused al-Qaida of being behind the attack.

The Lebanese opposition has slammed Ghosn’s remarks, warning of attempts to spread the unrest in Syria to Lebanon.

He fought the syrian regime and now he is the first defender of Al assad tyrannical regime (did the despotic regime changed?). He accuses others of corruption and he nominated his son of law and all his family to be MPs and ministries... Please how can you dare support him??

michel aoun is living in a state of war against everyone except for his friends : hezbollah, syria, iran. all that consumes him is vengeance and revenge towards all others.... which he calls justice. true justice and judgement starts with YOURSELF and YOUR ALLIES.

“The minister is the most qualified individual to make statements on al-Qaida.”

Actually mon General you're wrong again, the most qualified individual to make statement pertaining to terrorists on Lebanese soil is the interior minister who still says that he doesn't know anything about this.
So if Ghosn know of a clear and present terrorist threat he should first and foremost inform the interior minister about it before speaking it twice to the medias, the fact that he didn't shows an incompetence surpassing Slimmy Frangieh himself.

Naharnet has deleted comments, after a certain number of hours, and chose a few of the comments and modified the "age" of each one. When I visited this posting, earlier today, there were many more comments here, including mine, and they are gone, and the number of comments, for this particular posting has been been reduced. Is the General putting pressure on the Naharnet staff to do this?

Thumb jabalamel 28 December 2011, 11:11

the filthy zionist information war department thinks that everybody else is pathetic as them, so everybody else need information war department.

we who represent the truth do not need information war department. we are spontaneous

Thumb jabalamel 28 December 2011, 11:12

no the general did not put pressure to naharnet, but according to my experience here, they have some webpage database problems and they are not even aware of it.

Aoun does not know really know what is going on around him.
He is a blind leader leading all into disaster.
