The Free Patriotic Movement's Strong Lebanon bloc will convene Tuesday afternoon to decide how to vote during a parliamentary session that is expected to see Speaker Nabih Berri re-elected to his post for a sixth term.

Al-Mustaqbal bloc will also meet on Tuesday, after it already endorsed Berri for the speakership and announced that it would not vote for Elie al-Ferzli for the post of deputy speaker.

The Democratic Gathering meanwhile postponed a meeting that had been scheduled for Monday over the issue of the deputy speaker vote, al-Joumhouria newspaper reported.

Democratic Gathering leader MP Walid Jumblat had announced Sunday that he would try to convince his bloc to vote for Ferzli.

As for the Lebanese Forces, its leader Samir Geagea announced Monday that it would cast blank ballots – except for MP Qaysar al-Maalouf. Geagea also nominated the bloc's member Anis Nassar for the deputy speaker post.

Forget the Parliament Speaker Vote, have they decided on who they will nominate for Deputy Parliament Speaker? Gebran Bassil wants Elias Bou Saab while Chamel Roukoz insists on Elie Ferzli and never the twain shall meet, or shall they. Michel Aoun will probably step in to defuse this one, but this is only the opening salvo between Bassil and Roukoz who loath each others and are both looking to inherit Aoun after he's gone. This is not going to be pretty.
