A delegation from the Strong Lebanon parliamentary bloc of the Free Patriotic Movement held talks Tuesday in Ain el-Tineh with Speaker Nabih Berri, on the eve of a parliamentary session that is expected to see Berri re-elected for a sixth term.

The delegation comprised the MPs Ibrahim Kanaan, Elias Bou Saab and Alain Aoun.

Speaking to reporters after the talks, Kanaan said the bloc's official stance on Berri's nomination would be announced after a meeting for the bloc on Tuesday afternoon.

“The meeting was good and the new period requires cooperation among everyone. The elections have become behind us,” Kanaan added.

“Positivity will characterize the upcoming period and the hand will be extended to everyone and Speaker Berri stressed that cooperation is more than necessary,” the MP went on to say.

Bou Saab for his part emphasized that he has not nominated himself for the deputy speaker post.

They should focus on cooperation and positivity withing the Strong Lebanon parliamentary bloc first. They already have disagreements about who they want for Deputy Speaker with the Bassilists supporting Elias Bou Saab while Chamel Roukoz and his clique are insisting on Elie Ferzli. Prepare lots of popcorn guys, this is only the beginning.
