Bassil Says Important to Preserve FPM-Hizbullah 'Strategic' Alliance

Free Patriotic Movement chief and caretaker Foreign Minister Jebran Bassil on Tuesday called for preserving his movement's “strategic agreement” with Hizbullah.

“We maybe parted ways with Hizbullah democratically in the latest elections, but we preserved our strategic agreement and what's most important is the continuation of this agreement,” Bassil said during an iftar banquet in the Jbeil town of Almat.

He added: “In this country no one is submissive to anyone and no one is stronger than the other. We are all submissive to Lebanon through our national unity.”

The FPM bares the sole responsibility for keeping the Hez afloat and effectively taking over and running Lebanon. It was the MoU that then FPM leader and current President Aoun who signed up with Hezb back in 2005 or 2006. Otherwise Hezb would have weakened that they would've basically be on their own with no other "partners" except some radicals, leftists and so-called islamist and arab nationalist. I as a shiite was all into FPM for being something new and not based on religion. Bust as soon as they signed up with Hizb, I turned away from them.
