Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi made an appeal from Canada to the President and the PM-designate to speed the government formation “despite objections” of some political parties, as he warned of the repercussions as a result of failure, the National News Agency reported on Friday.

“I appeal to President Michel Aoun and PM-designate Saad Hariri to speed the formation process. Enough with consultations, it is time that a government be announced because our homeland is heading to destruction,” said Rahi.

“These are not only my words, these are the words of the international community which is keen on Lebanon, may be a little more than our officials are,” added the Patriarch in remarks he made to reporters from Canada where he leads a pastoral visit.

Rahi said he sees no justification for the failure to form the government the moment Hariri was designated to do so, “enough with consultations here and there. Let Hariri and Aoun form it despite rejections,” he added.

Hariri was tasked with the formation process on May 24 but his mission has been delayed because of wrangling between political parties over Cabinet shares.

But this cabinet-less government or government-less state may be the transitional device to majoritarian democracy Lebanon needs. The new Chamber of Deputies can discuss Lebanon's needs from their biased viewpoint, half of them being Christians per Article 24, while the lack of government leaves Hezbullah to continue running the country, which should convince everybody to normalize Hezbullah's role by submitting its rule to the vote in free and fair elections, even though it doesn't want this civil role, preferring the warlord status long endorsed by Western powers for their Christian and Sunni servants in Lebanon.

What a foreign racist like yourself fail to grasp is that Hezbullah wants much more than this civil role. It wishes to change the whole structure. Hezbullah's only raison d'être is an Islamic satellite state ruled under Sharia law and subservient to the Islamic Republic of Iran and it's supreme leader. Hezbullah's own tenets and Nasrallah himself say so. Problem is simply that the Shias are not the majority in Lebanon for them to be able to democratically accomplish this and they know it.

No. He keeps his money in banks like any upstanding civilized citizen. Unlike Hassan Nasrallah and his friends who hides the billions Iran sends them in private safes like mobsters do.
