LF Sources on Participation in Govt: We Won’t Leave the Coast Clear

Ahead of the Lebanese Forces official announcement on whether it will participate in the future government, LF sources told LBCI TV station that they “will not leave the coast clear” for their rivals.

The sources told LBCI “there are attempts to oust us from the government, but we will not leave the coast clear.”

LF deputy chief MP George Adwan stated a day earlier there is a “strong possibility” for the Lebanese Forces not take part in the new government.

He said Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri is expecting the LF to give a final answer on Monday evening.

The LF Executive Committee is holding a meeting Monday to discuss the issue. It is expected to vote on it and make an official declaration afterwards.

Adwan had pointed out that Hariri “wants the LF to take part in the government, whereas (caretaker Foreign) Minister (and Free Patriotic Movement chief) Jebran Bassil wants two things: preventing the LF from being represented with its true weight in the government or its non-participation.”

Hariri had promised the LF the justice portfolio, a proposal that was eventually rejected by President Michel Aoun and Bassil's FPM.

Wrangling over shares and portfolios has delayed the formation of the new government for several months now after Hariri was tasked with forming it in May.

you're spelling FPM wrong abbass.. it's not spelled LF.. but seriously.. based on Gebran Bassil's own low-ball asthmatics the LF deserve 5 or a third of the Christian seats.. they agree to get 4.. then Aoun and Hariri agree to offer them the Justice portfolio which they accept.. with a new government announcement looming the "strong Christian president" makes a u turn after getting the word from Hassin to stall.. what else should we expect from a General who deserted his command post and soldier to save himself.. left his wife and daughters behind because there wasn't enough room in the getaway transport ambulance for them and the loot he was hauling.. as far as a fascist way of behaving any so called hezb allah parade would do.. or just any tweets from FPM's officials Hayek or Barakat
