2 Die, 6 Recover as Lebanon Coronavirus Cases Reach 479

Two coronavirus patients died on Wednesday as six others recovered, the state-run Rafik Hariri University Hospital said.

The two deaths raise the overall fatalities to 14 as the six recoveries take the total to 43, the hospital said in a statement.

It added that it is currently offering hospitalization to 56 virus patients, among them two transferred from other hospitals.

“In line with the instructions of the World Health Organization and the Health Ministry, two coronavirus patients were discharged from hospital to home quarantine after the treating physician confirmed their clinical recovery,” the hospital said.

“They were informed of all the measures and instructions related to home quarantine in terms of dealing with others, personal hygiene, how to eat food and dispose of trash and how to monitor their fever on daily basis,” it added.

The hospital meanwhile noted that the two patients who died on Wednesday had underlying chronic illnesses and were in their fifties and sixties.

“All of those receiving treatment at the isolation unit are in a stable condition except for two who are critical,” it added.

The Health Ministry had earlier on Wednesday announced that the country’s confirmed coronavirus cases had jumped to 479 after 16 cases were recorded over 24 hours.

It also noted that 490 coronavirus lab tests were carried out over the past 24 hours at the Rafik Hariri hospital and private hospitals and laboratories.
