Officials Assess Preventive Measures against Spread of Coronavirus
President Michel Aoun chaired the security meeting at Baabda on Wednesday emphasizing the need to strengthen security and military efforts to counter the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
At the beginning of the meeting Aoun said: “Security measures and coordination between the military and security services must be strengthened,” to counter the spread of coronavirus.
The meeting was held in the presence of Prime Minister Hassan Diab, Defense Minister Zeina Akar, Interior Minister Mohammed Fahmi, Finance Minister Ghazi Wazni and leaders of the security apparatuses in Lebanon.
It aimed at assessing the measures taken against the pandemic, in light of a lockdown imposed in the country.
For his part, Diab said in order “to ensure stability and safety of the people, it was crucial to implement proactive security measures.”
According to MTV station, the heads of security and military agencies presented available reports on the situation in the country and the tasks carried out by the military and security forces. Reports also touched on the needs of security institutions.
