Legislative Session Expected to Witness Escalation by Opposition

The Tuesday legislative session that Speaker Nabih Berri has called for is expected to be a juncture in which the opposition will escalate its rhetoric against Hassan Diab's government, An-Nahar newspaper reported on Sunday.
Ex-PM Saad Hariri, who returned to Beirut Friday, and Progressive Socialist Party chief Walid Jumblat have both launched fierce attacks against the government in recent days.
Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea meanwhile met with a PSP delegation on Friday.
The government is also witnessing tensions between its own components, especially between Berri and the Free Patriotic Movement, while anti-government protests have started returning to the streets despite the coronavirus lockdown, especially in Tripoli.
