Special Tribunal for Lebanon Prosecutor Daniel Bellemare met Lebanese senior officials on Wednesday during a two-day farewell visit before the end of his mandate at the end of next month.

The STL official first held talks with Prime Minister Najib Miqati at the Grand Serail. He later met with Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour.

Bellemare left without making any statements.

The prosecutor also held talks with President Michel Suleiman at the Baabda Palace.

The president expressed his gratitude for all the efforts exerted by Bellemare concerning the probe into ex-Premier Rafik Hariri's assassination.

Bellemare arrived in Lebanon on Tuesday night.

He is expected to meet with Interior Minister Marwan Charbel and Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi.

According to media reports, Bellemare will discuss with Charbel the results of the investigations carried out by the Lebanese security agencies on issues linked to the court’s work.

The STL has indicted four Hizbullah members in Hariri's February 2005 murder. But Lebanese authorities have so far failed to arrest them.

The court announced in December that Bellemare has informed U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon that, for health reasons, he does not intend to seek reappointment for a second term as prosecutor at the end February.

Although i am with the STL, its becoming more and more of a joke, when will we ever have results on the ground? you have found 4 suspects, you are unable to oblige the lebanese security forces to withdraw them from their homes in order to be tried, or even reveal to us some of the results that prove that the Hezb is involved. How can anyone take you seriously? the U.N is a failed organisation with failed resolutions that take orders from the US sadly. You cannot oblige anyone to do anything.
