Aoun: No Settlement Has Been Reached Yet over Administrative Appointments

Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun stated on Tuesday that no appointment has yet been reached over the appointments of top civil servants.

He said after the Change and Reform bloc’s weekly meeting: “An agreement over this issue has not been reached with President Michel Suleiman.”

No disputes over this issue will erupt if all sides adhere to the constitution, he stressed.

“I think all sides have been convinced to respect the constitution,” said the MP.

On his ties with Prime Minister Najib Miqati, Aoun commented: “Time will reveal the reasons for the tensions between us.”

“All reports on my relations with Miqati are true. Reasons for objections over a proposal should be justified otherwise such action can be deemed as spiteful,” added the FPM leader.

On the government’s preparation of a new history book to be taught at schools, Aoun voiced his objection to the omission of some historic events in Lebanon’s history.

Asked by a reporter about the omission of the events of October 13, 1990, the MP responded: “The current history book that is being assessed by government is not suitable for schools.”

“No one can eliminate a single historic development,” he stressed.

The new history book has created an uproar after it omitted the 2005 Cedar Revolution that led to the withdrawal of Syrian troops from Lebanon after a nearly 30-year presence in the country.

The book also requires that an hour be dedicated to teaching students about the resistance, meaning Hizbullah, while disregarding the “Lebanese resistance,” which MP Sami Gemayel mentioned during his press conference earlier on Tuesday.

On October 13, 1990, Syrian fighter jets conducted raids on what was then called eastern Beirut, which forced Aoun, who was then the head of the military government, to leave the presidential palace and seek refuge at the French embassy before leaving for exile in Paris.

Silly man. The earth is moving under his feet and he is fighting over who is sitting in which chair. Such a silly irrelevant little man.

the best description " irrelevant man " well said

Thumb kesrweneh 29 February 2012, 09:43

Thank you for the only comment regarding the article! But i don't agree first cause it's offensive (so not ur usual polite style) secondly, because if there is a revolution in the Arab world this does not mean the country should be paralyzed.

Claoun is objecting the book cause it does not do justice to the polka dot pj he was wearing when he fled the country leaving his family and officers behind.
JC ... he is an irrelevant man ... but we need to talk about him to try to get some sense into his blind followers ... he is not just an irrelevant man but he is a sellout (not cause he sided with HA, I commend him for that .. Us Lebanese need to side by each other) ... but for supporting the Syrian regime, the same regime that tortured his men and executed them ... how does he dare go on TV and support them ... how will he ever face the mothers of these officers ... a traitor and a sellout should not be allowed to talk.

Here is my question.... Why do we have to form a government if everyone and every political party make their own decisions and implement them whenever they want without caring about hierarchy or DEMOCRACY???

Missing minlibnan 29 February 2012, 02:13

Does anything ever get solved in our country? They don't settle because it means improving our lives. And god only knows how anti Lebanese government tradition that would be. Aoun you are a real dick. But don't worry you have a parliament full of dicks 128 or whatever the number is. Because we all know how important for a country of 4million to have 128 representatives. All working so hard for us! And if you think your za3im is better your a fool.

Thumb kesrweneh 29 February 2012, 09:37

How can a political party face his supporters and tell them I took 11 billion $ in PUBLIC MONEY (your money) there are no documents whatsoever to explain this huge spending, but we want a law that will wipe all this away or else we will block the nation’s economy, ah and btw don’t forget to vote for us next year?…come on!!

I have just noticed that on all 20 comments only one commented the article, the rest is of course the same ding dong song repeated for 22 years now and deserve no response…
As for the October 13 barbarian invasion, 1 thing to remember: almost all 14March (except for Kataeb and A7rar) were part of it, Gaga, Joumbalt and Harriri directly, Souaid and Harb by being appointed MPs etc…
As for the appointments, let us not forget that the ONLY representative of the Christians in this cabinet is FPM (Mr Sleiman had 4 runners in Kesrwen and Jbeil and they all failed) so he should be naming ALL the Christians, pure and simple logic.

@kesserwaneh
You've got a lot of nerve...
Who destroyed all attempts of the government since 2005 ya kesserwaneh?? Who burned tires, closed the Beirut Central District, put up tents, shot people (may 7th), resigned, blocked all institutions...
Do you know that the Mikati government had for 2011 only, 6 BILLION Dollars in excess spending!! And your are breaking our b**** for 11B for 4 years!
You don't have a clue what you are talking about kesserwaneh...

What is this nonsense about Oct 13th... u high?

As for appointments, by your 2 cents logic, Bassil should not be in the government... as he also failed in the elections right? What do you propose? That he resigns?? Good! I do too :)

As for Michel Aoun, please note that he is the biggest traitor in History of Lebanon. He partnered with France, USA, Bashar el Assad, Hezbollah, and whoever promisses him the presidency! It is his only motivation...

He was fighting the syrians when they occupied Lebanon when all were supporting their presence & using them to their personal benefits where they grabbed all the parts of Lebanon & took everything, giving them Beirut key (all documented)!! They won 2005 elections with the help on Hizbullah & ruled for years, when the Hizb was with them it was resistance when not became trators & militia?!?!

Just give this guy a break to fix this damn country that you all have destroyed & robbed for years!!! God bless you General Keep on forward & don't look back.

Thumb thepatriot 29 February 2012, 16:42

@sophia
Ah.... who was supporting their presence then? We were behind Aoun at the time... everybody was...before we realised he was a madman!
The 2005 alliance was an alliance against nature, and the Hezb was politically agonising at the time... who revived them?... Aoun!
The syrians were finished, they went out the door, and Aoun braught them back from the window! M14 are not saints, and made HUGE mistakes, deffinitely...

But we tried Aoun, and we saw the results! He destroyed the country in a few months more then 10 wars during 15 years! He only brought us misery, death, executions and syrian hegemony!

Look back at his speeches during his stay in France, he accused Hezbollah, the Syrian regime, made the SAA in the USA, and conditioned his return to Lebanon only to allie with the devil!

He's a coward and a traitor!

I dont care about March 14th or March 8th or March 21st, all i care about is that why the 2005 Cedar revolution that we all shared and was the reason for Syrian withdrawal ( and be sure when uve got more than 2million lebanese wanting to massacre your army and drawing international powers to pressure syria as well) is going to be erased from history books?? because most of the FPM ministers are SSNP now. Jressaiti, Abboud they are known to be SSNP. Not to mention other ministers , becoming syrian slaves under FPM logo. And you teach about Hezbollah, which fought for 1 month and got 80% destroyed and destroyed South lebanon in a month, but you dont talk about the Lebanese resistance that fought for more than 15 years against Palestinians extremists and Syrian occupier.

Default-user-icon Skyfall (Guest) 29 February 2012, 16:54

What a shame, what a disgrace, i want to recognize hezbollah as beeing resistant, because many lebanese chiite brothers recognize them as such although i am not entirely ok with it. Why cant they acknowledge that we had man lives taken more than they could have ever given till now, as well as a clear attack against Lebanon from Syrians and PLO and PFLP that wanted a sunni-syrian controlled Lebanon?Even the sunnis recognized not long ago the mistake they had maid supporting blindly palestinians in going against the lebanese army autority as well as supporting the syrians...

@ Sophia_angle : Yes of course if you follow closely his moves :
-2005 : Against Hezbollah
- 2006 : Alliance With Hezbollah ( war, more than 8 billion $ in losses )
- 2007 : tents downtown with the Hezb : more than 2 billion $
- 2008 : May 7th ( supporting illegal communication lines ),Hezb turning against lebanese fellows against MOU principles.
- 2009 : Losing elections, and blaming Baroud, while even the Hezb was ok with March 14th victory
- 2010 : obsructing, Bassil blames for putting companies in his wife's name, Nahhas for selling new series of line
- 2011 : collapse of governement , threatning Jumblat.
- 2012 : Supporting Assad while the whole region is changing, forgetting that most of lebanese expats are working in arab countries

Default-user-icon Skyfall (Guest) 01 March 2012, 00:02

@ Sophia angle, :

2012 : betting ever tuesda on Bachar to terminate the free syrian people's will.
2012 : Red Diesel Scandal
2012 : Zahrani power plant shut by his ally Berri. he didnt do anything about it
2012 : Naming someone close to Hezb head of the Lebanese university without even qualifications
2012 : His minister Nahhas resigns because he didnt support him anymore since the Hezb need the governement and dont want people like Nahhas obstructing

Sophia , by the way, last governement, we had women as ministers, and even in Mustaqbal bloc that you so much hate, there are more women MPS than FPM and Hezb together... I remember Aoun promising women rights... Clearly you are an idiot orangie girl who listens to papa maman stupidities and repeat them. Those are fact, ndabe wou rja3e 3al beit .
