U.S. Ambassador Maura Connelly encouraged Lebanese authorities on Tuesday to provide the humanitarian needs of all Syrian refugees, including dissenters and deserters.

An embassy statement said that following talks with Interior Minister Marwan Charbel at his office in Hamra, Connelly “recognized Lebanon’s efforts to provide assistance to Syrians fleeing the violence in their country.”

“She encouraged the Lebanese government to continue its cooperation with the international community and provide for the humanitarian needs and safety of all Syrians who have fled to Lebanon, including dissenters and deserters,” it said.

In her talks with Charbel, Connelly stressed the Lebanese government’s right and responsibility to secure its borders.

She “called for the protection of all disarmed Syrians, including members of the Free Syrian Army,” and reaffirmed Washington’s “concern for the disappearance and kidnappings of Syrian nationals in Lebanon.”

The ambassador also reiterated U.S. concerns that developments in Syria not contribute to instability in Lebanon.

The embassy statement noted that Connelly and Charbel discussed the political and security situation in Lebanon and the current situation in Syria.

Discussions also focused on U.S. support for training the Internal Security Forces, it added.

This is a moral obligation. Our 'leaders' are nothing more than politicized crooks. We need to grant the refugees asylum until Syria becomes livable again. Where are Nasrallah candies today? They used to give them away on the roads. We should all help them as well no matter the religion.

Watching a brutal regime kill scores of people day after day with impunity, that it may stay in power, makes accomplices of us all.
History will not be kind.
Senator McCain is right. The World has sat this out too long.
The time to act on Syria is now -- and we may be already too late.

With all honesty, the American should simply shut up because they are simply stupid and lack any human element. If they cared about the Syrian people, they should have boobed the Syrian regime a long time ago. But they are fine with all this killing because this is what their masters (Israel) want. America is a puppet of israel; it doesn't take much to pin this down. They are masters of their decisions. They are donkeys in the hand of Israel. We all should be very wary of them at all times. They appear like a honey-bun but they are surpents under the sand. Shame on then at all times.
