Army Contains Baalbek Gunbattle

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

The Lebanese army contained an armed clash between rival clans in the eastern city of Baalbek on Sunday to prevent the confrontation from spiraling out of control.

The National News Agency and Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) said a military unit contained the clash between the Jaafar and Shamas clans that included the use of light weapons and rocket propelled grenades.

The gunfight erupted over a family dispute that left one person injured a few days ago in Bouday, the agency reported.

Sunday’s gunbattle took place at al-Sharawina neighborhood’s entrance and at the town of Iaat before the army interfered to put an end to it, NNA added.

The army is in control. That is good news.

Thumb geha 11 March 2012, 16:04

You are not doing better. LOL. The ones who voted me down, are true retarded patriots.

I agree, it is always good when the army is in control. Too bad they were not in control of the May 2007 events.

Again, the same people making troubles. The Shia community is a plague for the nation, the few honest ones should stand up and condemn this mafia killings, car thefts, the missiles and rockets used again lebanese civilians, the killings of prominent personalities such as our Prime Minister Hariri, the theft of electricity, the theft of land.... it's all done by the Shia. If this were to happen in Shialand [aka Iran] they would all be hung by the theocratic regime... because everything they are doing is condemned by their religion!

you should go to a physco to treat your sectarian primitive mind. are you really accusing the whole shia sect because of a gunfight between 2 clans?

Default-user-icon Mohammad_ca (Guest) 11 March 2012, 20:41

you act as though a gunfight between two clans is nothing!!! el3ama bi2albkon this is a disturbance of the peace, attempted murder, a danger to passers by, illegal use of weapons...where does it end! No one should own weapons except for the army then we wouldn't be in such situations!!

The root cause is the Syrian regime who planted them in key roles within the government, ISF and army for 30yrs same as the Alaawite in Syria.

Your opinions are completely out of control. These incidents are criminal and have nothing to do with peoples religion or culture. You need to take control of your thoughts before it becomes to late.

I hate hizbo as a mafia. But the idea of putting a sect down is a disgrace. In no way or shape are Shia as a sect anyless Lebanese. Some of my best friends are Shia and they don't all support HA.

@FT: "it also smacks of a deep understanding for each other and a true willingness to build a country."
Hypocrite...
Your problem is, your game is up. Everyone understands you and your willingness to build a country and what type of a country. all you're looking for an Umma and not a country where all your likes can live together and the rest of us will be Ahl el Zimma in your umma. Eh ma fasharet.

if the free shia cannot stop hassoun and esteez from monopolising them, means that they have a basic problem inside their sect.

FT...As long as HA follows an Iranian Agenda, and does not heed the lebanese call to hand over its weapons to the Lebanese Army...there is no entente to be done with such a Hizb. But there is a chance to reach out to the Shia community (bypassing HA) and ask them to join hand with the rest of the lebanese communities to build Lebanon
And FYI, HA arms are creating a lawless state indeed, and this incident is just an example - correct me if i am wrong - there is a law that forbids anyone on Lebanese soil from having/carrying machine-guns and rocket propelled grenade, yet these Shia clans have them, the lebanese army cannot go after them because it will generate a clash with HA.
Furthermore, HA has stoppled the Lebanese state from removing the Palestinian basis that harbor Syria/HA friends and are the source of much Theft, Kidnapping and smuggling of all sorts.

There're many hornoable Shiias in Lebanon whom do not belong to some sick Persian militia. Please don't generalize.

Missing hmorsel 11 March 2012, 19:48

hey everyone, we need to stop accusing ALL the Shia, the only ones creating trouble are the Shia affiliated with HA and "friends of the resistance" not all shia are that way. There are a large percentage of the community who despises Iran and the plague they sponsor in lebanon.

Thumb jcamerican 11 March 2012, 20:06

The shia were the forgotten and neglected citizens of Lebanon. If it was not for HA or Amal, you wouldn't even recognize their existence, and most likely you want to send them to Iran. I know a lot of Christians resent and despise Geagea, but I guess they don't count either, the reason is, they are allied with the low lives.

Disgusting rhetoric against the shiite sect. I am not a supporter of Hezbollah nor what they do or what they believe in, but that doesnt mean i insult a whole sect that is nonetheless lebanese. People that are against shias or sunnis or christians, are inciting hatred, you must go back to your hole, there is no cleaning to do exept for ALL militias in the country, without any exeptions. But specially foreign militias, then we can talk about local militias. Stereotyping crimes like that is horrible, the racism against shiite people is outrageous in some posts. They are not all in Baalback shooting each other...
