Phalange: We Condemn Attempts to Harm the Army as it Represents Lebanon’s Unity

The Phalange Party praised on Monday the discovery of a ‘takfiri’ cell in the Lebanese army, which was seeking to carry out attacks against the army.

It said in a statement after its weekly politburo meeting: “We condemn attempts to harm the military institution because it represents national unity and the country’s sovereignty.”

The army intelligence last week discovered the ‘takfiri’ network and it has been revealed that its leader is residing in the Ain el-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp although his exact whereabouts are unknown.

Addressing the spoiled food scandal in Lebanon, the Phalange Party said that the crisis has harmed Lebanon’s reputation, saying that the issue needed to be tackled “seriously and responsibly.”

“Systems that respect themselves would witness the resignation of sides responsible for the crisis out of respect for the people whose lives are being placed in danger,” it remarked.

Regarding the seventh anniversary of the March 14 movement that was marked on Wednesday, the statement pledged that it would continue the mission to achieve Lebanon’s sovereign goals, calling on all sides to commit to the establishment of a civil state.

I have to disagree, there is no consensus nor agreement among people. Nobody can stand the other... and this idea of the army being the cement of the unity is a myth. Hezbollah doesn't respect the army, nor any other faction that has militias... if they did, they'd hand over their weapons, ALL of them! if they didm again, they wouldn't wage wars on Israel and leave our army on a fait accompli, powerless against the israeli war machine. Bu behaving this way, our soldiers are mere target practice.

The weapons of Hzb El Kzb & Terror are in violation of the Taef Accord. Nothing else needs to be said: ILLEGAL, GHEIR SHAR3EH, DOD EL 2ANOUN!

I don't think prime suspect's perceptions reflects the minority of the Lebanese. Quite the opposite, the majority! We shall confirm this in the upcoming elections!

@bandoul : Yislam Hal toum! amen.

I forbid you to use the name of the great prime minister that YOU assassinated. No armed factions has a place in Lebanon, nor the terrorists that use God as an excuse nor the Palestinian. Your speech belongs to another era... and you're definitely not looking for peace as it would sign the end of the militarized terrorist militia.

Of course, M8 has e monopoly of the truth. FT rewrites history at will and we're all liars. You're just confirming what we all knew, you Iranian Syrian thugs have nothing to do in our country. The Shia should move out of Lebanon and go it Iraq or Iran.... Pffff.

This statement alone will guarantee that the Kataeb will increase in number for 3 to 8, that is if Geagea does not take care of business and reduce this number again by a couple in his own ways.

Next President will be from the Kataeb Party.

the more you comment FT you push us away from thee shia in our country, while we do consider this secte as part of the lebanese but your comments are forcing us to hate them. is that what you want?

Thumb kesrweneh 20 March 2012, 12:54

Bravo Kataeb!! make us proud. your next move should be leaving those who are attacking the Lebanese army every day aka : Harriri and co. and why not those who are attacking Bkerkeh and the Vatican AKA the geagea Party (allow me not to call it LF I have too much respect to Bachir to do so)

Kataeb has always backed an independent national Army. This is nothing new. But people seem to forget that the Kataeb are the only real Lebanese political party that has Lebanon interests first.

Every time Kataeb puts a minister in they get assassinated for putting Lebanon first.

This is why the Kataeb ministers that are alive are not always able to talk how they would like, but from time to time where possible they speak the truth and they speak for Lebanon first.
