MP Geagea Hits Back at Raad, Says Assassinations Could Target the March 8 Forces

MP Strida Geagea slammed on Wednesday Hizbullah MP Mohammed Raad, saying that he could’ve had the minimum amount of “credibility and morality” before criticizing the assassination attempt of Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea.

MP Geagea said in a statement issued by LF press office that all the official stances confirm the “seriousness of the attack.”

“The stances of President (Michel Suleiman), Prime Minister (Najib Miqati), and Interior Minister (Marwan Charbel) confirm the seriousness of the attack, and constitute an overwhelming response to the statements of MP Raad,” she stated.

Earlier, Head of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Raad criticized attempts by some politicians to exaggerate events and instigate incidents hinting to Samir Geagea without naming him.

MP Geagea expressed regrets over the “low political rhetoric, regardless of the different points of view.”

“Personally if I was informed that (Hizbullah secretary general) Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was attacked, I would’ve been the first one to condemn it,” the MP added.

She lashed out at Raad calling on him to realize that the assassinations might target the March 8 forces someday, rather than only targeting the March 14 forces figures.

“But we refuse violence and killings, and if that happens we will be the first to condemn any attack,” Geagea stated.

She hoped that MP Raad and others “commit to a certain level of morality and values as Lebanon shouldn’t lose those principles that constitute a main part of its culture.”

The LF leader said Wednesday that he escaped an assassination attempt when a sniper fired at his residence in Maarab.

Security forces extracted two sniper bullets, ranging between 12.7 and 14.5mm, from a wall at his house.

The LF leader added that the security of the Maarab compound was not breached and that the attacker had carried out the attack from a distance of up to four kilometers using very advanced equipment.

Let's go back to our 30yrs of war and re-arm again, some people never learn from history at which point you can teach them a lesson again.

I am surprised that Strida did not finish the pest a long time ago. Perhaps she has a fantasy for lame and ridiculous men.

Hezbollah's media oddly was the first to proclaim the possibility of a setup by the LF to gain popularity. Their story was ready apparently just in case their assasination attempt did fail.
They seem to know about these tricks to make one wonder if their boss is hiding in his hole just to gain popularity too!?

Nothing in her demeanor or words support your claim. However your words along with the actions of the parties you support are behaving like you say as if the civil war never ended to you and as if no lessons were learned from it.

I saw the Geagea press conference, and he didn't say anything about the type of the sniper rifle, and in this article you mention of one type of sniper rifle, the Steyr HS .50. by this mention you make your article not objective , because we cannot know the sniper rifle from only the Cartridge, moreover the cartridge is not clear yet if it’s 12.5 or 14.5, In my opinion they used the PTRD-41 sniper rifle which was used widely in the Lebanese civil war by a lot of militias.

Flame or Cookie boy lover whichever your lost identity is, day after day your idiotic comments show how ignorant and dumb after 30yrs of war that history never taught you a lesson, case in point "when you say alleged assassination" meanwhile the ISF recovered the two bullets. Your kind of people will never see that the assassins are the Syrian/Iranian leftovers or spill that are in Lebanon, simply put because you have no other way out except maybe North Korea and Chavez to welcome you. For years, we played by the rules and disarmed after the war is over, you set a precedence and the day you decided to keep your arms then every outlaw claimed to be part of your game to avoid abiding by the country laws and pay taxes/electricity, you ruined the internal security to the extent that assassinations come and go on the expense of Lebanon and your ignorance downplay it on every occasion therefore the only lesson your thick head will process is that we'll re-arm again.

the 2 bullets were "recovered" by geagea man not by the Army or ISF, we never saw the impact, no one saw the bullets exept Gegea, the army was called 2 hours after the incident, the range of the bullet is impossible, the speed of geagea bending (faster then abu aabed el raboulsi) to catch a flower is impossible biologicaly... this is a bad Boolywood my friend :elementaire mon cher watson

remember?? i wouldnt mind those days, cause you ignorant bastards ONLY understand the baroudi language.. this polictical democracy is not made for animals like you. the major mistake was disarming the only christian baroudi.. if this keeps going on, some may decide to rearm.. then you realy can complain about it. Lebanese forces should man up and get armed again, until EVERYONE decides to disarm

Default-user-icon Huelegue (Guest) 08 April 2012, 08:58

Geagea has lied about his education and fraudulently claimed that he is a doctor. How can we now believe his story of alleged assassination attempt?

Default-user-icon just a thought (Guest) 08 April 2012, 10:30

I bet she's the one behind the attempt..she just misses the days when he was in jail and she was ruling.... think about.. who benifits the most if he dies? Not the 8 camp cause there would be someone else replacing him anyways, such as her... get it.. power n money baby

Raad's response: "Assassinations target March 8? Aha ha ha ha ha! Why who do you think is behind... Oops, shouldn't have said that."

Default-user-icon Disgusted (Guest) 08 April 2012, 14:28

“credibility and morality” is something this baboon Raad is not familiar with... It is alien to his character...
