Qassem Warns of Vote-Buying during 2013 Ballots, Calls for Dialogue

Hizbullah deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem stressed on Wednesday that consensus over the electoral law for the upcoming 2013 elections can be reached through the resumption of dialogue among all parties.

“Hizbullah would enter dialogue with anyone and in the end the electoral law will be issued through the parliament, which includes various political blocs,” Qassem said in an interview with An Nahar newspaper.

He warned of vote-buying, ruling out that Hizbullah’s arms would play a role in the ballots to affect the votes of the people.

“We have the right to talk about the risks of the expected vote-buying,” Qassem stated.

He pointed out that the arms of the resistance are only targeted against Israel, reiterating Hizbullah’s rejection to postponing the elections.

Qassem voiced his support to the adoption of an electoral law based on proportional representation.

“We are ready to discuss the matter thoroughly with all parties in order to reach a fair electoral law,” he told the daily.

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel had proposed recently an electoral law based on proportional representation to be adopted in the 2013 parliamentary polls.

The proposition had sparked controversy among the rival political parties, as Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat rejected the proposal, while the March 8 forces have voiced their support for it.

The March 14-led opposition has meanwhile maintained its commitment to the amended 1960 law that was adopted during the 2009 parliamentary elections.

buying votes is forbidden, voting at gunpoint is the only acceptable way.
Hizballah last election, the Lebanese election cost Iran $1.3 Billion, and KSA £0.7Billion... so Iran paid almost double. It's the skank calling the slut whore.

Mr Kassem: you are paranoid by knowing for fact that Iran's tap is shrinking and will not be able to open up as usual...
As far as the dialogue concern: Talk to your proxy Mr Clauon as bneing the one who jeopardized the dialogue...However, for constructive dialogue to take place again, you must work with the rest of the Lebanese parties and Gov. to execute what you have all agreed on before you arrived to the bottle neck of the Defense Strategy..

Well here it comes, Hezbollah wants the other parties to come and "dialogue' with the barrel of its gun. We all know what that means, don't we? Hezbollah wants what it wants. "Consensus" means that everyone agrees to what Hezbollah wants -- oh, and never mind this gun that I have pointed at your head, it doesn't mean anything, but you do want what we want, right? Oh happy day, Consensus reached Hezbollahstan-style.
Already the rumblings of holding the elections hostage to Hezbollah's will. The people must either give in, or forget about elections in 2013. Hopefully by then, Assad will be gone and Hezbollah's negotiating "tools" will be obsolete.

Hezb does not need to buy votes, they buy people throughout the year..... all services in their areas are provided by Hezb(courtesy of Iran) and if a woman dresses according to the code she gets paid as well, and if men enroll to fight the Zionists (which include M14 civilians) they get paid as well. Hypocrites.

Assuming that what mowaten IRANI said about what Future and LF did is true, his party wouldn't have been shot at if they didn't possess illegal weapons that they used to kill Lebanese citizen with in the first place. This tired BS argument they are making like a broken record is old, empty and inexcusable. Their Party of God, aka "Party of Lies and Intimidation" promised that no matter what happens it would NEVER use these weapons for ANY internal conflict. They broke that promise and no excuse in the world can forgive that! They will use those same weapons in the same way to silence us again but first they have to ignite strife to have an excuse to commit murder! THUGS!

@LiesThrower&BoredTeenagerFromHell, we have already proven that you are a silly and very bored teenager playing with his dad's computer. Please find another way to amuse yourself. I feel sorry for the future of Lebanon when people like you become adults and have the chance to run the country further into the ground.
