Mawlawi's Release Request Referred to Military Court

A request to release Salafist activist Shadi al-Mawlawi was referred on Thursday to the Military Court, with his lawyer expecting that a ruling would be issued Friday.
Military Investigative Judge Nabil Wehbi interrogated Mawlawi for around four hours, in the presence of his lawyer Mohammed Hafza who filed the release request.
Judge Wehbi then referred the request to Government Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr who will have the final say.
Mawlawi’s arrest on Saturday in the northern city of Tripoli by General Security agents had infuriated the city’s Islamists and sparked deadly clashes that have left at least 12 people dead and more than 100 wounded.
Mawlawi was arrested on charges of belonging to a terrorist organization, but his supporters say he was targeted because of his help for Syrian refugees fleeing to Lebanon.
General Security chief Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim on Tuesday confirmed media reports that the arrest of Mawlawi was coordinated with a Western security agency, noting that al-Qaida exists in Lebanon and hinting that Mawlawi is a Qaida member.
Local newspapers reported on Wednesday that Western security agencies have warned Lebanese officials that terrorist militants linked to an extremist organization have infiltrated the country recently to plot political assassinations.

just to straighten your facts:
1-you didnt finish the sentence: kidnapped and killed by LF even after their surrendered their positions. Actually your general left his soldiers in the battle field and ran away to France, thus letting them to die at the hands of his current allies, the syrians.

3. actually hizbushaitan were the attackers ad they had more than that killed just in the chouf area. in beirut there was no resistance.

1- GMA didn't leave his soldiers he issued the surrender order before leaving, and he went to the frensh embassy to negotiate a truth (this is y he took his cabinet mbrs not his family) if you can read frensh, read the former frensh ambassador Rene Alla book on the issue
2-when the Hizballah member killed Samer Hanna he was arrested an served his time (unless u think judges are corrupted the army is corrupted and only M14 are saints) however the Sunnis salafis who killed more than 10 soldiers in Donyeh were released with Geagea in 2005 and now ur leaders are asking to free the Nahr el BAred terrorist to gain some votes.

Refrained from commenting on this arrest until the dust cleared. It appears that this guy is no saint (religious extremists - whatever their faith - are negative in my book) and maybe a fanatic Qaeda member (definitely a negative). It seems clear and agreed he was helping the Syrian rebels(a plus in my book).
It also is becoming clear that General Security (Amn 2l 3am) intended his arrest to be a provocation their protestation to the contrary notwithstanding. They obtained the judicial arrest warrant AFTER they made the arrest!
Conclusion: Appears that the implicit intent is to stir the Sunni pot in Tripoli in order to pit the army against the Sunnis there. The Jam'a Islamiya got it right and it stayed out of it.

He will be released because Miqati would have to resign to save face if the problem of tripoli is not solved. Mawalawi gained the sympathy of all the suni sect precisely because the allegations are mere fabrications and there was no terrorist ACT committed by the man. Hizbustan will approve the release because they do not want to lose the government. They wanted to make an example of those who help the syrian refugees and they did not realize the political price for such a blunder. We all live in one country and i hope we dont go to civil war over bashar assad who will sooner or later become a mere idiot who took power from his father then lost it to revolution.

The salafis are trying to make a 'copy/paste' of south lebanon;
1-israel the enemy of chia in south, 2- syrian regime the enemy of sunni in north making same balance figuratively this would lead lebanon to crack from the middle. :(
