Protesters blocked roads on Sunday across Lebanon, including in the capital Beirut, to condemn the shooting death of Sheikh Ahmed Abdul Wahed at an army checkpoint in the Akkar town of al-Kweikhat.

The army and security forces managed later to reopen most roads.

Local residents set fire to tires to cut off several roads in northern Lebanon in, including a road leading to Syria.

Roads were blocked in Akkar, Dinniyeh and most areas in Tripoli, including roads leading to al-Nour Square, al-Qobbeh, al-Beddawi and the international highway leading to Beirut.

Similar scenes were repeated on the Beirut-South highway near the intersection of al-Naameh town and in the Beirut areas of Verdun, Bechara al-Khoury, Qasqas and Corniche al-Mazraa.

Roads were also blocked in the northern Akkar region and in the eastern Bekaa valley where angry protesters set tires ablaze to cut off roads.

Meanwhile, state-run National News Agency said six people were wounded in an armed clash between two local groups in the vicinity of the Beirut Arab University in Tariq al-Jedideh, which involved the use of machineguns and rocket-propelled grenades.

It identified four of the wounded as Ahmed Shanshiyyeh, Ahmed Habbal, Mohammed Nheili and Abdul Hadi al-Farra.

Let give back this country to the christians and expell all of them to Syria and allow Bashar to take care of them ...

Sunnits killed us by alliyng themselves with the palestinians and syrians in 1975. At least we never had any problems with the shia. Bashir was right when he refused to expell the shia in Jbeil or Batroun. He was right when he was fighting the palestinians outlaws and he was right to fight the traitor like joumblatt.
Shame to Geagea that supported the salafists ...
Everything has a price to be paid at one time or another. I guess it is time for them to pay it NOW

When the Sunnis start feeling like they are targeted by this M8 government and Hizaballa, they have the right to react. M8 is trying to marginalize the Sunnis because most are with Sheikh Saad and against the dictator Assad. It's not the Sunnis fault for defending themselves. Enough is enough.
