Geagea Says Country’s Problems Can Only be Solved by Neutral cabinet

إقرأ هذا الخبر بالعربية W460

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea reiterated on Tuesday that the government should resign and be replaced by a neutral cabinet over the recent deadly clashes that shook Beirut and the northern port city of Tripoli.

In remarks to al-Mustaqbal newspaper, Geagea said: “The solution would be for the government to leave immediately and be replaced by a neutral cabinet.”

“There can’t be any dialogue in the presence of the confrontational government,” he stressed after several requests were made to hold all-party talks to contain the repercussions of the deadly fighting between pro- and anti-Syrian regime supporters in Lebanon.

The government “needs a dialogue among its members before any other dialogue with others,” Geagea said in reference to continued bickering between the different members of the cabinet over several issues.

The LF chief said the deadly gunbattles that took place in Tripoli last week and Beirut’s Tariq al-Jedideh neighborhood on Sunday, in addition to the assassination attempt against him last month, fall in the interest of the Syrian regime and come at the expense of the Lebanese people and the state.

“The Syrian regime is suffering from a daily decline,” he told al-Mustaqbal. “The continuity of the revolution is a confirmation that the regime is in decline.”

Geagea also accused Hizbullah and the Free Patriotic Movement that make up the government’s majority along with Amal movement of seeking to salvage the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad “even (if that comes) at the expense of Lebanon and its relations with Arab” states.

Who is neutral in Lebanon? And if you are neutral, how can you be in politics. It sounds moronic.

@karim
I know that you people are tired of being called dogs of the syrian regime, and dogs of Ahmadinejad...
But unlike you, we, the independant people of Lebanon, do not take orders from anyone! We do not care about Al Saud, Obama, Merkel...you name it!
What you fear and envy is our freedom, independance, and free will...something that you will never have...something we shall always look forward to...
You, the Hezb, Michel Aoun, Frangieh, have chosen to support the syrian regime of Assad... we chose to kick them out!
Take responsability for your actions and political choices...and understand who's the dog...and who's not!

Why do you insist on calling a man with just a terminal a Dr?? Is it because the educational level of the LF lovers is so low that a terminal for one of you equals a Phd for a normal person?

All you same posters are the broken record, like our politicians who have been there for 40 years...seriously, tired of reading the same arguments going left and right. We got it believe me, pro-west/GCC V/S pro-east/Russia/China...now, any body cares to write about ideas to enhance our country?

Thumb thepatriot 22 May 2012, 11:55

ideas to enhance our country:
1- All parties surrender their weapons to the army
2- The army creates a special unit in charge of the southern border and integrates Hezb fighters
3- Define clear borders with syria
4- Restore the authority of the state and the army to all the Lebanes territory
5- Eliminate all religious references from the constitution and have new electoral laws based on a Democratic system.
6- Elect leaders who are not supported by foreign countries.
7- Clean up all administrations rotten by sectarian employees who are inefficient and inapt.
...that would be a start...

thats great patriot but Ive read your comments and your one of the neutral open-minded people, just wish the others posting here would wake up and realize that...and for god's sakes, pls, let them stop referencing the war time leaders! these leaders can't be saved, they are contaminated by greed, power and inferiority complex, they should all go live on an island in the pacific and leave us at peace

Thumb sophia_angle 22 May 2012, 11:08

Thumb kesrweneh 22 May 2012, 12:25

So the army butcher speaks now!! I still wonder why FPM MP voted him out, they guy is a convicted criminal and of the worst kind. Maybe he should join Ftah el Isalm after all they have so much in common:
Their hate for the army, their crimes, their allegiance to foreign power, their dumbness...

Thumb slash 22 May 2012, 13:03

can you prove it Kesrweneh ? because as all lebanese remember there was a hole government in the 1990's under the syrian (your allies and masters) aegis investigating all the charges against him and didnt find anything ... their hate for the army ? Geagea paid the army salaries in 1989 , their crimes ? not really it was a war time and everybody comitted crimes but those people you hate os much defended the country from your master in damascus to whome you are paying allegiance and last and not least your stupidity which is beyound compare !!! i told you once you are with FPM because of your hate to LF that is the only reason like most of the FPM you are in this party not for a cause but you represent the hate to LF ! LOSER

Default-user-icon LebanonOnly (Guest) 22 May 2012, 13:47

what is plain obvious is the blind hatred of the LF and Samir Geagea no matter what. As a neutral Lebanese I can honestly say that the LF and its leader proved to be the most honest and pro Lebanese since 2005 till now. Lebanese starting with the FPM supporters need to seriously ask themselves are they being fair to themselves and Lebanon with all this blind hatred? History will not be kind to the traitors of Lebanon!!!
