Maalouf: Information of the Arming of Some Sides has been Presented to Security and Legal Authorities

Lebanese Forces MP Joseph Maalouf revealed on Saturday that security and legal authorities in Lebanon have been informed that some groups have been arming themselves.

He told Free Lebanon radio that clarifications should be made on this matter.

"We depend on the army and security forces to maintain Lebanon's security and we stress the need for constitutional institutions to execute their duties," he stated.

He rejected ongoing claims that the Christian powers in the March 14 forces are arming themselves, asserting that the coalition refuses any form of arming.

Addressing Iranian President Mahmouad Ahmadinejad's visit to Lebanon, Maalouf said: "His trip did not change the situation in Lebanon" and did not shift the balance of power in favor of one group against the other.

Furthermore, he noted that Ahmadinejad's rhetoric changed according to the location he was making his speech from, adding: "Lebanon is not the front line for defending Iran."
