Miqati Says Ready to Resign if there’s Political Consensus

Prime Minister Najib Miqati said on Friday that the price of his resignation would be consensus among Lebanese on the dialogue table.

“I am ready to do whatever (the officials) agree on during the dialogue,” Miqati told al-Liwaa newspaper.

He pointed out that he accepted the formation of the cabinet because he “considered himself in a rescue mission.”

Miqati stressed that he will not leave the country in vacuum as he is keen to maintain unity in the country.

However, al-Liwaa reported that the premier’s brother Taha conveyed a letter by the Syrian regime during the past few days rejecting the collapse of the cabinet.

Sources told al-Liwaa that the resignation of Miqati is in the hands of Hizbullah and its ally the Syrian regime.

Sources close to the PM noted that if the current cabinet collapses then there’s no guarantee that the Lebanese foes will be able to form a new one amid the domestic and regional developments.

“Miqati turned into a tool in the hands of the Syrian regime and (Hizbullah chief Sayyed) Hassan Nasrallah,” al-Mustaqbal movement source told the daily.

Recently, several politicians have been exerting efforts to resume the all-party talks after the country witnessed several security incidents.

Lebanon is sharply divided between the March 14-led opposition, backed by Washington and hostile to the Syrian regime, and the camp of the March 8 forces, which dominates the government and is supported by Damascus and Tehran, over the yearlong crisis in the neighboring country Syria.

Easy geha, I am not defending the guy but be fair about it please, he is a hostage held at gunpoint just like every other Sunni premier under the reign of the Party of Terror and Intimidation. I don't know the man, I don't know if he is corrupt or not but I do know who is running the show and it is Mr. Turban Head the leader of Hzb El Kzb and Erheb and his orders come from Iran.
